According to the official measurement of the China Earthquake Network, at 13:54 on November 17, a 5.0-magnitude earthquake occurred in the waters of Dafeng District, Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province (33.50 degrees north latitude, 121.19 degrees east longitude), with a depth of 17 kilometers. The earthquake caused strong earthquakes in Yancheng, Nantong and other places in Jiangsu, and also felt earthquakes in Nanjing, Shanghai and other places in Jiangsu.
After the earthquake, many netizens uploaded videos that cracks appeared in the walls of buildings in the Parkway Community of Dieshiqiao in Sanxing Town, Nantong, Jiangsu Province, and many people were watching nearby.
Ms. Wei, a citizen of Nantong, told the Jimu News reporter that the surrounding area of the cracked building has been blocked, and she is still living normally in the community on the evening of the 17th.
Mr. Xie, a nearby resident, told jimu news reporters that at about 13:54 on the 17th, he felt a shock. He hadn't seen the wall crack before, but after the earthquake, he found that the wall cracked. After the earthquake on the afternoon of the 17th, Mr. Xie saw the fire fighting vehicles coming to the vicinity of the community, and there were personnel from relevant departments to investigate the scene.
On November 18, the relevant person in charge of Nantong Sanxing Town told jimu news reporters that after the earthquake, the masses found that vertical cracks appeared in the corners of the walls of some buildings in the Dieshiqiao Parkway Community, and Samsung Town immediately organized the police station, fire brigade, neighborhood committee, planning and construction bureau, and construction team relevant personnel to rush to the scene to check the situation. The buildings where the cracks appeared were actually 309, 404, 505, 501 of the old Jinhui Jia Yuan (together with the Parkway Community). Combined with the inspection and analysis of cracks, it was determined that these cracks were caused by the empty drum of the building insulation layer, and the cracks expanded after the earthquake, which is not a structural safety problem, and the area has been included in the comprehensive improvement and upgrading project of the resettlement community this year, and the overall transformation of the façade will be carried out.
At 9:30 a.m. on November 18, Samsung Town invited Jiangsu Jinlin Technology Testing and Appraisal Group Co., Ltd. to the scene to inspect, and the appraisal unit initially eliminated major safety hazards, and will use professional equipment to conduct professional testing of cracked buildings on the 19th and 20th, and issue safety appraisal reports. The report is expected to be issued on November 23, when Samsung Town will publish the appraisal results as soon as possible, and if there is a safety hazard, it will take immediate measures to ensure the safety of the people.
