On November 18, the Chinese Academy of Sciences issued the "Announcement on Announcing the List of Academicians Elected for the 2021 Academician Co-election of the Chinese Academy of Sciences", and Professor Xie Suyuan (Department of Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry) and Professor Lin Shengcai (Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine, Biochemistry and Cell Biology) of Xiamen University were elected as academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

These two new academicians have deep roots with Sanming.
Among them, Academician Lin Shengcai is a native of Houlou Village, Yangzhong Town, Youxi County, and was admitted to Xiamen University from Yangzhong Middle School (formerly Youxi No. 4 Middle School) in 1980 and entered the Temple of Science. His wife, Li Peng, is a professor in the Department of Biological Sciences and Technology at Tsinghua University and was elected an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2015. Academician Xie Suyuan is a native of Shanghang, Fujian Province, who studied in Shanghang Lufeng Nationalities Middle School and other schools, was admitted to Fujian Normal University from Qingliu No. 1 Middle School in 1984, and obtained a master's degree from (formerly) Central South University of Technology and Kunming Precious Metals Research Institute of China Nonferrous Metals Industry Corporation in 1991, and was assigned to work in the Sanming Environmental Protection Bureau, and was admitted to Xiamen University in 1996 to pursue a doctorate.

Lei Jilin
Lei Jilin (formerly a researcher at the Yellow Sea Fisheries Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences), born on May 24, 1935 in Ninghua County, Fujian Province, she, may 24, 1935 in Ninghua County, Fujian Province, marine fish aquaculture scientist, in 2005 was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
