Around 1900, the old artist Shi Dianyuan once sang "Wang Xiao Rushing Feet" in paper paste donkey and disguised costumes, which was welcomed by the masses, and people called it donkey drama, because this title was not elegant, it was transliterated as "Lü Opera" by some literati.
In 1917, Lü opera entered Jinan Province, the main repertoire of the performance is "Lü Dongbin Medicine", the local people do not understand the source of this kind of drama, only heard that it is called "donkey opera", and because the main repertoire is "Lü" character heading, the audience will call it Lü opera.
The "Lü" character of Lü opera was originally the "Lu" character of twenty-five households for one Lu. It means neighborhood drama and hometown drama. Later, in the process of passing and circulating, "Lu" was simplified to "Lu".
In the past, most of the piano books were paired with two people or a family, and the content of the singing was mostly reflective of the love between men and women. The two mouths are "Lü", so it is called Lü Opera.
According to the old artists of Boxing County, Lü Opera was originally called Shu Opera. There are two theories about this: First, because the main accompaniment instrument when singing is the falling piano, and the fingers of the falling piano are moved up and down according to the sound, it is called the play; and because there are six kinds of rhythms in the twelve laws of Chinese music, which are collectively called "six Lu", the "play" is renamed "Lu opera". Another legend is that when this kind of play was named, the old artist Sun Zhongxin said that when this kind of play was sung, it was called a play.
