In 1975, Xia Boyu joined the Chinese mountaineering team, and when climbing Everest, he was amputated for helping his teammates, resulting in frostbite, but he did not give up his dream of climbing Everest. In the 43 years of experiencing leg amputation, cancer infestation, and illness, Xia Boyu hit Mount Everest five times, and with his perseverance and love, he was finally accepted by Mount Everest on May 14, 2018, and successfully reached the summit at the age of 69.
Wu Jing became acquainted with Xia Boyu due to the filming of "The Climber" and was deeply moved by his feats. So he participated in the production of "Endless Climbing". Another producer is Guo Fan, the director of "Drifting Earth".
