On the 18th, in the planting base of the Chaikou Village Joint Stock Economic Cooperative in Pingxiang County, Xingtai City, Hebei Province, Villager Zhang Liyun said happily while picking up sweet potatoes.
On the morning of the 18th, in the sweet potato planting area of the cooperative base under the warm winter sun, there was a busy and gratifying scene. Rotary tractors go back and forth in the fields, carrying out semi-mechanized harvesting operations, and where they pass, the soil is turned over and the sweet potatoes are exposed to the ground. More than 10 migrant workers carefully picked up, some were loaded and shipped, and their faces were full of smiles of harvest.
In May 2019, Chaikou Village, Pingxiang County, established the Chaikou Village Joint Stock Economic Cooperative, which was officially put into operation in October of that year. There are 3339 members in the village, each accounting for 1 share, and the "cropper" who faces the loess and turns his back to the sky has become a "shareholder".
"We invested 2 million yuan in collective funds, transferred 500 mu of land, and vigorously developed characteristic planting." Zhang Lipeng, secretary of the party branch of Chaikou Village, said that this year, the base mainly planted three varieties of sweet potatoes, namely "watermelon red," "shang potato 19," and "smoked potato 25," as well as cassia seeds, greenhouse grapes, ginger, and some fruit trees.
During the National Day, the 10 acres of ginger planted in the base were harvested and sold out before they came out of the land, which made Zhang Lipeng and the members very happy. "Practice has proved that as long as we take the right path and continue to work according to the set goals, we will certainly be able to succeed, and common prosperity is not a dream." Zhang Lipeng said.
150 acres of sweet potatoes is the cooperative's largest "investment" this year. From seedling selection to planting, from management to harvesting, every link is to strive for excellence. "We select high-quality sweet potato seedlings, and the agricultural technology experts of the potato company regularly come to the door for professional guidance, and the yield and quality are guaranteed." Wang Feng, a member of the company, said that this year's average yield of sweet potatoes per mu reached 5,000 jin, the total output was about 750,000 jin, and the total income was about 750,000 yuan according to the minimum selling price of 1 yuan per catty.
"This year, we plan to go out to visit and learn advanced planting experience, find local characteristic planting projects, highlight characteristics, create highlights, strive to be the benchmark of rural collective economic development, and strive to achieve a new picture of beautiful countryside in the new era under the scene of common prosperity."
