International Conference on Environmental Studies satellite conference "Cloud" interaction

On November 13 and 14, as one of the important sections of the 2021 World Young Scientists Summit, the satellite conference of the International Conference on Environmental Research was held in the form of an online conference due to the impact of the epidemic. With the theme of "China's Progress towards Carbon Neutral and Sustainable Development", the conference gathered many experts and scholars to conduct in-depth exchanges on topics such as the impact of climate change, the biogeochemical cycle and the potential ways for China to achieve carbon neutrality, and shared an academic feast on climate and environmental issues.

A total of seven thematic lectures and two conference reports were held at the conference, with more than 500 people registering to attend the conference, and 12,000 people watching the live broadcast of the conference online and participating in interactive exchanges.

Daniel Kammen, a 2007 Nobel Peace Prize laureate and a professor at the University of California, Berkeley, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech, placing deep expectations on the development of the conference.

In the report session of the conference, Professor Tao Shu, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Peking University, made a report entitled "Environmental and Health Effects of China's Urban Living Energy Transformation", introduced his research group's long-term exploration of Energy Use and Related Emissions and Health Impacts of Chinese Residents, and shared his recent research results on the spatio-temporal changes and driving mechanisms of residential source emissions and health effects in the context of China's urban development.

Subsequently, Professor Zhu Tong, Dean of the School of Environmental Science and Engineering at Peking University, discussed China's environmental research, policy implications, challenges and future prospects with health effects as the core from the perspective of the interconnection of air pollution, climate change and public health, and discussed the important value of multidisciplinary research to help solve China's environmental problems in the context of carbon neutrality.

At a critical time when the world is struggling to find solutions in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, many environmentally concerned audiences interact with experts and professors on each topic of the conference to discuss the cutting-edge hot issues of environmental research.
