The reconstituted Electoral Commission of the Union of Myanmar announced on November 15 local time that 16 people suspected of cheating in the 2020 general election were formally prosecuted for "abuse of power", including Win Min and Aung San Suu Kyi.
The Myanmar Federal Election Commission issued a notice on the 15th, saying that former President Win Min, former State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, former Federal Election Commission Chairman Laden, former Mandalay Chief Minister Zo Min Maung, former Naypyidaw Municipal Committee Chairman Miao Aung, former Federal Government Minister Min Du and other 16 people were suspected of cheating and abusing their powers in the general election held on November 8, 2020. The violations, which included disrupting electoral procedures, threatening the heads of village and town election commissions, forcing grass-roots managers to sign pledges, and placing people without the right to vote on voter lists, were prosecuted by the Federal Election Commission on November 15.
The Federal Election Commission announced on July 26 that it had reviewed the votes in last year's general election, found a variety of illegal and unjust circumstances, and annulled the results of the election.
Myanmar held general elections on November 8, 2020, with the ruling National League for Democracy winning more than half of the seats in the federal parliament, and the Burmese military, believing that there was fraud in the election, took over state power on February 1 this year and re-formed the Federal Election Commission.
