Doctors advised Aguero to retire

Striker Sergio Aguero received advice from doctors after receiving heart test results last week, but he is currently only 33 years old. Aguero's heart problems were reported to be more serious than the initial diagnosis. The Barca striker is in a complicated situation and does not seem suitable for professional sports.

Doctors advised Aguero to retire

"Retirement is one of Aguero's current options. Doctors want his body to be best protected from arrhythmias," local media reported.

On October 31, during Barca's match against Alaves, Aguero fainted on the pitch with chest pain and breathing difficulties. He was then taken directly to the hospital for examination. The 33-year-old striker is said to have an unusually high heart rate. Barca announced that Aguero would need to take at least three months off to wait for the outcome of the recovery process before deciding on a career.

Aguero has played just five games for Barca this season and was injured after a free transfer from Manchester City to Camp Nou before being suspended due to a heart arrhythmia.

"I've spoken to Aguero's agent and he's going through a tough time," head coach Pep Guardiola told a news conference last week. "Manchester City members wish him all the best. Health and life are more important than anything else. Aguero needs to take care of himself. I and everyone want him to be on the field in the next game."

Ahead of Aguero, midfielder Christian Eriksen suffered a stroke at Euro 2021 and the Danish star had to implant a defibrillator as Serie A rules have yet to return to the pitch and will likely leave Inter in the winter transfer window to join a foreign club that allows him to play.
