Urumqi, 11 Nov (Xinhua) -- On 11 November, this reporter learned from the Xinjiang Fisheries Research Institute that Bohu County in Xinjiang has stocked more than 30,000 flat-kissed fish into Bosten Lake.

Flatnose fish, also known as "giant panda in the water", commonly known as "big head fish", is a rare indigenous fish unique to China that is only distributed in the Tarim River Basin of Xinjiang, and was listed as a first-class protected endangered wild animal by the state in 1988, with high economic and academic value.

The stocked flatfish is a second-generation seed, with a growth period of more than three years, a size of 15-30 cm, a weight of 30-50 g, and a size greater than in previous years.

He Jiangtao, an engineer at the Xinjiang Fisheries Research Institute, said: "More than 30,000 flat-kissed fish have been released in Bosten Lake, and all the fish are more than 3 years old. ”

In recent years, Xinjiang Bohu County attaches great importance to the development, utilization and protection of aquatic biological resources, and regards the conservation of aquatic biological resources as an important measure to improve the ecological environment of Bosten Lake and enhance ecological civilization, and effectively increases the number of fish populations in Bosten Lake through the implementation of special treatment during the fishing ban period, artificial breeding and stocking, and publicity of fishery laws and regulations, so that the fishery resources of Bosten Lake are effectively protected, and the ecological environment of Bosten Lake continues to improve.

"All the flatfish adopt pit chip markers, VIE fluorescent ribbon markers, and the role of the markers is that we have a traceable role in conducting biological surveys in the waters of Bosten Lake, and it is also to promote the sustainable development of water ecology, enrich the diversity of aquatic organisms, and promote the sustainable development of fisheries." He Jiangtao said. (End)
