Over the years, the Premier League has had a large number of talented managers, with the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson, Guardiola, Wenger, Mourinho and Klopp claimed to be the best coaches by fans.
For commentator Neil Warnock, legendary Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is at the top of the list, while Ferguson – despite his dynasty at Old Trafford – is fourth on his list. Unsurprisingly, his views sparked some heated debate.
After all, Ferguson is the most acclaimed coach in the history of the top flight. During his 27 years in charge, he won a record 13 titles and surpassed his peers. No head coach has ever matched his accomplishments.
But Warnock, who has narrated a record 1,603 games in his 41-year career, said the other three coaches brought more dynamism to the Premier League when asked to name his top five Premier League managers.
The UK's Sports Post asked several experts about their options and explained why...
1. Sir Alex Ferguson
2. Guardiola
3. Wenger
4. Mourinho
5. Claudio Ranieri
In my opinion, it would be unacceptable if Sir Alex couldn't shoot first. 13 title wins and long standby times put him ahead of the curve.
Of course, as Warnock points out, Wenger's influence extends far beyond his three titles, but I think Guardiola has changed us tactically, creating football as lofty as Wenger and winning three titles in five years.
Klopp will undoubtedly be on this list soon, but I think Ranieri is currently ahead of him. Each of them has a title and it's clear that the Italians have won the greatest title in Premier League history and are unlikely to be surpassed.
No one can get close. Looking at United's current disastrous performance at Old Trafford, his incredible achievements are even higher.
2. Mourinho
It's easy to forget that before the special one came along, Chelsea were far from being as strong as they are today. Yes — he enjoys financial support — but his almost immediate success in a perennial underperforming team is admirable.
3. Arsenal Wenger
He came, he saw, he changed. His Arsenal machine is a mixture of savage and splendor. Unfortunately, he had to spend years paying for a new stadium.
4. Klopp
Completing this mission after many others failed to end years of Liverpool trophy famine is one of the Premier League's greatest achievements. Despite financial constraints, the Red Army continued to remain competitive.
5. Guardiola
His impact on the game is there for all to see. When his tactics redefined the norm, his Manchester City was highly watchable.
5. Klopp
It is impossible to ignore that Sir Alex Ferguson won 13 Premier League titles in the 21-year Premier League title race before his retirement in 2013. This coach is a natural winner.
Guardiola and Wenger were two of the great revolutionaries of different eras in the Premier League. Both have triggered fundamental changes and set new development trends. Both won trophies, but contributions were not limited to trophies.
The order is controversial, but I can't imagine too many discrepancies between the top five candidates. Ferguson topped the list with his super-long coaching, while Klopp squeezed into the rankings with the way he played at Liverpool.
For Guardiola, it goes without saying that his genius has shined in the last five years.
In particular, mention should be made of Sir Bobby Robson's winning time at Newcastle and Martin O'Neal's outstanding coaching at Aston Villa, which established Leicester City as an excellent club in the 1990s.
Just as I've always enjoyed listening to Neil Warnock, I'm sure I can come in first. The number of titles won, the establishment of the dynasty, his reinvention of the team – all put Ferguson far above others.
Two to four positions are largely interchangeable. Guardiola proved himself with his innovation and the outstanding performance of his team, and Wenger surpassed Mourinho in achievement with an unbeaten season.
I'll leave the fifth-place position to Ranieri, even though it's clear he's not the fifth-best coach in the Premier League. It's not sixth, seventh or eighth, etc., but what he did that season at Leicester City is surely more memorable than anything else.
