The birth and development of the Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League cannot be separated from the leadership and care of the CPC. Her pregnancy began with the "February 28" uprising of the Taiwan people. On February 28, 1947, the people of Taipei City, Taiwan Province, held a large-scale demonstration to resist the tyranny of the Kuomintang authorities and protest against the shooting of citizens by the military and police. People from all over Taiwan responded in droves, seizing weapons and holding uprisings, paralyzing political power throughout much of Taiwan Province. This is the "February 28" uprising. In July 1947, Taiwanese patriots Xie Xuehong, Yang Kehuang, Su Xin, and others who participated in the Taiwanese people's "February 28" uprising arrived in Hong Kong via Xiamen and Shanghai. Xie Xuehong and other patriotic democrats in Hong Kong have actively contacted and received their enthusiastic support. After many efforts and the guidance and help of the Communist Party of China, the Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League was formally established in Hong Kong on November 12, 1947. Since its birth, the Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League has clearly expressed its political stand of supporting the CPC's stand, opposing the Kuomintang's corrupt rule, and resolutely opposing "Taiwan independence." Its establishment enabled the Taiwan compatriots inside and outside Taiwan province at that time to have an open political group, set up a banner of revolutionary struggle, represented the fundamental interests and voices of the entire Taiwan people, and played a positive role in uniting the broad masses of Taiwan compatriots to jointly oppose the Kuomintang's dictatorial rule and accelerate the victory of the people's democratic revolution throughout the country.
