The humble story of the Hu people - the short-lived Western Yan established by the fifth "male pet"

author:Look at the well

The Xianbei Murong clan not only left a strong mark in Chinese history, but also became famous in many martial arts novels. Under the pen of the great heroes, Murong Shi was full of mystery. In the previous part, we said that Murong Shi established the "former", "later", "western" and "southern" Yan, and introduced the establishment of the former and later Yan. In this article, we will talk about what is going on in The Western Yan.

Hearing that his uncle Murong Chui had raised the banner of anti-Qin, Murong Hong, the younger brother of the Former Yan emperor Murong Wei, who had already destroyed the country, also gathered thousands of Xianbei disciples to raise an army in response. Later, Murong Chong, his younger brother who had raised an army at Pingyang, came to his aid. Seeing that these two streams slowly merged into a river, they germinated Yang Fan's ambition to sail far away and stand on his own.

His brother Murong Wei was placed under house arrest in Chang'an, but he must have been nominally Emperor Of Yan, so Murong Hong sent someone to Chang'an to ask for instructions on whether he could stand on his own. The next morning, the magpies were barking in the branches, and after a while, their men brought back their brother's message: For the revival of the Yan kingdom, you can be called emperor.

After some careful preparations, Murong Hong was proclaimed king in the ninth year of Taiyuan (384), and the historical "Western Yan" was opened to the public. Then Murong Hong is obviously an emperor and a nobleman, why do I say that it is a male favorite to establish the Western Yan?

The story goes like this, although Murong Hong declared himself king, his fate was not good, and he was assassinated by his subordinates because of his harsh use of the law in just two months. The person who really went to the front desk and established the Foundation of Western Yan was Murong Chong, another of the two streams mentioned above. It is equivalent to saying that the major shareholder Murong Hong gave the company a name, and died before it came and began to operate. Another shareholder, Murong Chong, really completed the registration and operation of the company.

His younger brother Murong Chong walked to the front desk, and the teenager had an indissoluble relationship with Former Qin's Jian Jian. As early as 14 years ago, when Former Qin destroyed Former Yan, the 12-year-old was escorted to Chang'an with his 14-year-old sister Princess Qinghe, because his sister and brother were all mei Qingmuxiu, so they were all included in the harem, one for female pets, one for male pets. (Jian Jian's orientation is too advanced.)

Now more than ever, Murong Chong, the former male favorite, is now the commander of tens of thousands of troops and has occupied the Afang Palace near Chang'an. It was in this place where Xiang Yu set the fire on fire (recent archaeological discoveries found that the Afang Palace was not built at all), and he replaced his brother as Emperor of Western Yan (his brother only claimed the title of king). Therefore, it should not be an exaggeration to say that Western Yan is a country established by a male pet.

One day, when Jian Jian heard that someone was besieging the capital chang'an, he personally ascended to the head of the city, only to find that the commander of the invading army was his former male favorite Murong Chong. He hurriedly ordered someone to send a brocade coat, hoping that the male companion would see the past love points and retire.

Murong Chong not only threw jinyi on the ground, but also loudly demanded that Jian Jian give up the throne, and Qi Jian vomited blood! Former Qin was no longer as good as sorry, after the Battle of Shuishui, Yuan Qi was seriously injured and unable to fight again, and Murong Chong was the lord who took advantage of your illness and wanted your life. In desperation, Jian Jian could only abandon the city and flee, and Western Yan attacked Chang'an. Marking the official establishment of Xiyan!

The humble soldiers who were accustomed to listening to the wind of the grassland were not accustomed to this kind of city life, and their hearts were like arrows, but the emperor was greedy for the prosperity of Chang'an and was reluctant to return to the east. So folk legend sang the folk song "Phoenix (Murong Chong's nickname) Phoenix Stop Afang, Phoenix Phoenix, why not fly back to your hometown, and take it here for no reason?" ”

Sure enough, in a word, the "phoenix" Murong Chong (think of his nickname is also interesting, and it is also in line with his male pet identity, the male is called the feminine phoenix) was killed in the infighting in the eleventh year of Taiyuan (386). Within a month, the state changed four kings, namely Duan Sui, Murong Jiao, Murong Yao (Murong Chong's son), and Murong Zhong (Murong Hong's son).

The army finally settled down, and the army advanced to its hometown. When he arrived in present-day Wenxi, Shanxi, bad news came from the front, the bad news that was diametrically opposed to the place name: Murong Chui had established Later Yan, and in front of it was Later Yan's territory. So the troops camped on the spot, and the real backstage boss Murong Yong also stepped into the foreground and was elected as a great general and a big danyu.

The reason he didn't immediately claim the throne was that a victory was needed as a foreshadowing. Well, let's take former Qin's Jian Jian as a touchstone. At Dingxiang, Western Yan seized the Qin army and beat it up, and the city of Changzhi in present-day Shanxi was occupied by Western Yan, and it was here that Murong Yong ascended the throne.

The opponent in front of him was only the Hou Yan born of the same root. At this time, the two Yan countries must answer the same question: is it a confrontation, or cooperation?

The answer is cruel, perhaps a sign of human nature. Everyone understands the principle of the combination of the strong and the strong, but the greedy self of human nature cannot be overcome at all. A brotherly war broke out in the eighteenth year of the Reign of Emperor Taiyuan (393). 50,000 Western Yan elite soldiers rushed to the Houyan position, but they did not see a personal shadow for half a day. Just as they hesitated and looked east and west, Later Yan ambushed troops, Western Yan suffered an unprecedented defeat, and Murong Yong fled back to Changzhi.

Immediately afterwards, Changzhi City was surrounded by Murong Chui. The impatient Murong Yong sent people to the Eastern Jin and Northern Wei for help. Unfortunately, before the reinforcements arrived, one of Murong Yong's cousins opened the city gate and let the enemy in (anyway, he thought it was All Murong, all cousins, who were different.) Soon, the head of the Western Yan Emperor moved!

Xi Yan, a teenager under the age of 10, suddenly died. It originated in the west, so it was called "Western Yan", arose from the male favorite Murong Chong, and was defeated by civil strife and unawareness.
