The footsteps extended under the launcher

——Sketch by Liu Shan, assistant engineer of the technical office of a brigade of the Rocket Force

He was rated as an excellent officer of the "four haves" and was awarded the second class merit. Recently, Liu Shanshuang, assistant engineer of the technical office of a brigade of the Rocket Force, came to the door, and her story of a strong army also made comrades-in-arms relish.

This "post-90s" Northeast girl who does not speak much has excellent grades when she goes to school. After being assigned to the unit, Liu Shan was transferred to the technical room, which was praised by the officers and men of the brigade as a "technical highland".

However, a month later, the confident Liu Shan played a "toe" in the "highland".

Once, during the training of the missile launch detachment in the actual operation, a company commander asked Liu Shan several difficult problems in missile operation. At first, Liu Shan was barely able to answer. As the question deepened, she blushed.

It is said that the brigade has just installed a certain new type of weapons and equipment, and Liu Shan is also forgivable when he is asked. However, she is secretly determined to "be cruel to herself": "As a technical cadre, if you can't understand the profession, you can't talk about competence!" ”

During that time, Liu Shan fought particularly hard, either nibbling on the "hard bones" in the technical room or riveting under the missile launcher. She also took the initiative to apply for foreign training and humbly sought advice from scientific research experts and manufacturers. When she encountered indigestible knowledge, she shut herself in the house at night, delving into the principle and memorizing parameters. Sometimes, faced with a diagram of a missile subsystem, she can study an all-nighter. Relying on this drilling energy, Liu Shan wrote down 3 large books of more than 200,000 words of study notes.

Shortly thereafter, in the professional theoretical assessment organized by the whole brigade, Liu Shan won the championship with a score of 99 points.

"1 point is also a gap, and we must strive for excellence in technology." Liu Shan constantly pressurized himself, and in only one year he was selected into the top technical talent pool.

The year before, the brigade's technical office was commissioned to develop a set of simulated training equipment, and Liu Shan was responsible for developing an interface system. In the face of hundreds of production objects, Liu Shan worked for more than 2 months. After the "front desk" is done, how to accurately dock and interact with the interface module and the operation instructions has become a difficult problem in front of Liu Shan.

Once, after Liu Shan knocked out a piece of code, the computer reported an error and could not execute the expected instructions. She sat in front of the computer for most of the day, consulting the data, refining the operation, and finally gnawing down this "hard bone". In the end, she used more than 70,000 lines of code to prop up the "kernel" of the interface system, and the simulation training equipment was successfully developed.

"If you want to do it, you have to do your best, and if you want to do it, you have to do it." Adhering to this concept, Liu Shan is constantly meeting new challenges.

In 2019, at the military parade celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China, some of the equipment of Liu Shan's unit was included in the rocket army equipment team. Liu Shan paid silently behind the scenes, and the laser timer she developed improved the accuracy of vehicle travel training and contributed to the equipment team to drive through Tiananmen Square without fail.

In that year, Liu Shan also participated in the development of a virtual simulation system, which won the prize in the Rocket Force Innovation Competition, for which she was awarded the third class.

As new equipment was successively installed in the troops, the burden on Liu Shan's shoulders became heavier, and the pace of tackling key problems was also more hurried.

Snowy night in the north, cold wind. Not long ago, a real-life synthesis exercise of a certain brigade of the Rocket Force was carried out at a certain field training ground, and Liu Shan was ordered to participate in the first inspection and testing mission of certain types of weapons and equipment.

In the severe cold weather of -20 ° C, she insisted on following the inspection in place every day, guiding the trumpeter to standardize the operation action, troubleshoot, and solve the relevant technical problems in time. Next to the mighty missile launcher, on the snow-covered road, leaving her a series of clear footprints...

"As a technical cadre, only by constantly striving for excellence in business can we insert the 'wings of science and technology' for missiles to take off." Liu Shan said.
