Joss Whedon quit Batwoman and said she didn't have a proper story

Joss Whedon doesn't direct Batwoman

Recently, after a long period of repetition, Joss Whedon finally confirmed that he would not direct DC's "Batgirl". Previously, there had been a lot of rumors about whether he would direct the film. At the end of 2017, he was sure he would direct Batwoman. For now, he has issued a statement saying he "has no story" and has to quit the project.

Regarding the unavoidable withdrawal, Joss Whedon said: "Batwoman is an exciting project, and Warner and DC, as well as the crew, are extremely creative. And it took me a few months to understand that I really don't have a story about this character. I'm thankful that people welcomed me, but that doesn't avoid me either – is there a sexier word for failure? From this point of view, Joss Wedden did not have a creative conflict with dc, but his own lack of a story that could be made into a movie caused the failure of this collaboration.

Batwoman is one of the most popular superheroes, but has never had her own solo movie. The character debuted in Batman #139 (April 1961) and was co-created by Bill Finger and Sheldon Murdolph. The first Batgirl was Betty Kane, but the most famous Batgirl was Barbara Gordon, who debuted in 1967. The character appears in 1967's DC Comics as the daughter of Gotham City Police Chief James Gordon. She usually allies with Batman, Robin, and Nightwing/Dick Grayson. Batwoman will also be the second solo film in DC, after Gail Gadot's Wonder Woman, to feature a female protagonist.

With Whedon gone, Batwoman is currently in the midst of a directorless, unschedited, and storyless. If you want to continue shooting, you may have to spend a lot of time looking for the right actors. However, DC already has plans to make The Flash and Batwoman new members of the DC Universe. This shows dc's confidence in bringing Batgirl to the screen.
