In the late spring, the shou belt that wintered in the south flew back to Hunan and began to breed, dragging extremely long tail feathers and floating through the mountains and forests, adding a little fairy atmosphere to the mountains of Hunan.
Shou belt this kind of bird, at a glance can be recognized, the male tail feathers are unusually long, although the body is the same size as a sparrow, the tail feathers have more than 3 times the length of the body, riding the wind like holding a long streamer, fluttering in the wind. Therefore, the shou belt is also called the ribbon.
The female is similar in body to the male , except that the tail feathers are much shorter. In addition, males have two color types: the feathers on the head and neck of males of the ordinary color type are dark blue, and the feathers in other places are brownish red; The head and neck of the white male are also dark blue, but the rest of the body is snow-white. The colors vary greatly, but they are just as beautiful and dusty.
Today, the shou belt is relatively rare and was listed on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species a few years ago. However, on the "cultural relics" handed down, they can often be seen. For example, in the Nine Pins of civilian official uniforms in the Qingming Dynasty, the "Wen Lian Que" embroidered on the patch is the shou belt; Ancient flower and bird diagrams are also common in this bird; "Floral ribbon bird pattern" is still a common pattern for all kinds of porcelain...
In ancient China, the ribbon was a colored ribbon used by officials to wear official seals, symbolizing power and wealth, and the tail length was easy to cause people to imagine the association of longevity, so the ribbon was attached with symbolic meaning and became a "bird of annunciation".
Shou belt can indeed bring benefits to people's lives. Their English name is Paradise Flycatcher, which translates directly into Chinese as if it were supposed to be called "Heavenly Flycatcher" in Chinese. The name presumably indicates what they mainly eat. Yes, the shou belt, which needs to hunt a large number of pests every day, is a famous agricultural and forestry bird.
