"PP Ancient Books", Illustrated Volume 1 of natural history of mammals, 1819-1824

This series is an illustration of the book Histoire naturelle des mammifères (Natural History of Mammals). The book was co-edited by the French naturalists Saint-Hilaire and Cuvier. The illustration was drawn by Werner et al. of the Natural History Museum in Paris. This article contains 428 full-color illustrations of mammals. This set of books was published circa 1819-1824.

Étienne Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire (15 April 1772 – 19 June 1844) was a French naturalist.

Frédéric Cuvier (28 June 1773 – 24 July 1838) was a French zoologist and named after the red panda. He is the brother of another zoologist, Georges Cuvier. He was elected a foreign member of the Royal Society in 1835.

Mammals are a class of vertebrate subphylum mammals (Latin: Mammalia) that breathe air through their lungs, so named because they can produce milk from their mammary glands to breastfeed their young.
