People's Daily Seoul, October 8 (Bae, Oh Eun-joo) The New Manjin Development Zone is the largest national policy project in South Korea's history, which is a land surrounded by breakwaters on the west coast and covers an area of 409 square kilometers. At present, New Wanjin is in full swing to promote development projects and is committed to building the center of the Northeast Asian economic circle. Recently, Kim Hyun-sook, Director of the New Wanjin Development Department, accepted an exclusive interview with the People's Daily and introduced the cooperation and exchange meeting of the New Wanjin and the China-Korea Industrial Park.

Reporter: Director Kim Hyun-sook, hello! First of all, thank you for accepting the interview with People's Daily. Please say hello to the netizens of the People's Network and introduce the new Wanjin.

Kim Hyun-sook, Director of the New Wanjin Development Agency: Hello everyone, I am Kim Hyun-sook, Director of the New Wanjin Development Agency. Xinwanjin has built the world's longest breakwater of 33.9 kilometers, which is a fertile land full of hope and opportunity. The New Wanjin Project is the most representative national policy project in South Korea, and our goal is to build the New Wanjin region into the center of the Northeast Asian Economic Circle. The development area of new Wanjin is vast, reaching 409 square kilometers, equivalent to 5 Manhattans and 4 Paris. The land is divided into six major types: industrial research land, international cooperation land, tourism and leisure land, environmental and ecological land, agricultural life science land and satellite city land. I think it will provide impetus for attracting industries such as the Fourth Industrial Revolution and renewable energy, as well as for the future development of South Korea.

Reporter: Xinwanjin recently held a cooperation and exchange meeting on industrial parks between China and south Korea.

Kim Hyun-sook, Director of the New Wanjin Development Agency: The China-Korea Industrial Park Cooperation and Exchange Conference invited relevant people, enterprises and experts from the industrial parks of the two countries to strengthen mutual exchanges, explore cooperation opportunities between enterprises, and achieve substantial investment. In June 2018, the first cooperation and exchange meeting was held in Yancheng, China. The second exchange meeting is being held in Xinwanjin, and more than 150 people from the two governments and local governments, including civil servants, entrepreneurs and experts, attended the meeting. A number of events will be held during the conference, including a visit to The New Million Gold, an introduction to the environment of the Korean FTA (Free Trade Agreement), one-on-one business negotiations between entrepreneurs from the two countries, and an expert forum. The China-South Korea Industrial Park Cooperation and Exchange Conference will provide a valuable opportunity for enterprises of the two countries to discuss business cooperation projects of common concern and win-win development cooperation programs, and will strive to develop into a new turning point for Chinese and Korean enterprises in the future.

Reporter: At present, what efforts has New Wanjin made to attract Chinese investment?

Kim Hyun-sook, Director of the New Wanjin Development Agency: We are exploring specific cooperation plans to promote demonstration projects through intergovernmental cooperation channels such as the Vice-Ministerial Communication Meeting and the China-ROK Economic Ministers' Meeting. We will create opportunities for the relevant enterprises of the China-Korea Industrial Park Cooperation and Exchange Conference to meet frequently to discuss the introduction of investment, and will gradually expand the scale. At the same time, a delegation to attract investment and investment was set up to continue to visit China to publicize the development potential of New Wanjin. Based on the New Wanjin Development Agency, the central administrative agency of the Republic of Korea, and the Special Law New Wanjin Law, the Korean central government continues to provide stable project support and targeted administrative support for enterprises. In the future, we will also provide various policy support led by the state, such as bold institutional reforms, price reductions, and bonuses.

Reporter: When Chinese enterprises invest in the New Wanjin Development Hall, what preferential policies can they enjoy?

Jin Hyun-sook, Director of the Development Department of New Wanjin: When Chinese investors and enterprises invest in New Wanjin, they can enjoy tax reductions, long-term leases of land, and investment incentives such as investment subsidies. We first offered full subsidies for corporate taxes and duties for up to 5 years in the Gunsan area. If you lease land for a long time, you can use it free of charge for up to 100 years. In addition, investors and companies will receive investment subsidies of up to 20 billion won (about 120 million yuan) to cover the cost of factory equipment and land acquisition. The New Wanjin Project is a national policy project, so in the future, it will continue to give full play to the advantages of the national policy project, continue to explore and provide targeted administrative support and institutional reform for enterprises, as well as incentives needed by enterprises.

Reporter: Finally, please talk about what efforts New Wanjin will make in the future to attract Chinese investors and investment enterprises.

Kim Hyun-sook, Director of the New Wanjin Development Agency: Compared with other industrial parks in South Korea, New Wanjin has the advantages of low lease fees and tax reductions. We will continue to maintain and enhance these benefits in the future, while continuing to optimize unnecessary processes and streamline redundant procedures. We are now renovating major transportation infrastructure such as airports, ports, railways, highways, etc., further highlighting the regional advantages of New Wanjin in addition to the reduction and reduction of concessions, while continuing to promote our development projects.
