Sun Kai was born in 1961 in Jingning County, Gansu. He is a deputy research librarian of the Cultural Center of Fukang City, Xinjiang, and a member of the 3rd, 4th and 5th CPPCC Committees of Fukang City. He is a member of the Xinjiang Artists Association, a special painter of the Xinjiang Academy of Painting, the chairman of the Xinyi Yaochi Calligraphy and Painting Research Association, the vice president of the Gansu Provincial Academy of Chinese Painting, the director of the Chinese National Painters Association, the director of the Changji Prefecture Artists Association, and the honorary chairman of the Fukang Artists Association. In 1996, the Chinese painting "Morning Colors of the Ancient Road" won the "Excellence Award" at the first International Exposition in Beijing. In 1998, the Chinese painting "Stepping on the Cangshan Mountains is More Quiet" was selected for the first landscape painting exhibition in Xinjiang and won the "second prize".
In 1999, the Chinese painting "Wind and Dust on the Ancient Road" was selected for the 8th Stars Awards Art Exhibition of the Ministry of Culture. In 1999, the Chinese painting "Wind and Dust on the Ancient Road" was selected to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and won the "Third Prize" in the Xinjiang Art Exhibition. In 2001, the Chinese painting "Tianshan Snow" won the "First Prize" at the Second China Expo. In 2009, the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China was held in Xinjiang to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, and the National Painting of Tianshan Tianshan won the "Gold Award".
