Following the steps, he first made Emperor Taishang emperor, announced that Yang You would succeed him as Emperor Gong, and Li Yuan would appoint himself as the Grand Chancellor.

At that time, the news of Li Yuan's claim to be emperor reached Luoyang, and Wang Shichong and others felt that they could not wait any longer, so the people appointed Yang Tong, the second grandson of Emperor Jiao, as emperor, and called him Emperor Sui. A year later, Wang Shichong established himself as king, Yang Tong was deposed, Wang Shichong said that Yang Tong died "hanging himself", in fact, many historical records record that he sent people to strangle him.
In the following year, the Sui Dynasty had no emperor, but Empress Xiao of the Great Sui Dynasty was still alive and fled to the Turks, and the Turkic Khan was more generous, allowing Yang Guang's grandson Yang Zhengdao to establish himself as the Sui Emperor, and all the Turkic Central Plains people were under his control. Ten years later, the Eastern Turks were destroyed by the famous Tang Dynasty general Li Jing, and Yang Zhengdao's "Great Sui" did not exist.
