Samoa's Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries recently announced that the country has bred three new taro varieties, named "Talo Tanu", "Talo Fusi" and "Talo Lani". The above varieties of taro are hybrid varieties of Asian taro and Pacific island taro, which was studied and bred by the Pacific Community Land Resources Division.
Taro is one of the main crops in Samoa. The successful cultivation of new varieties of taro will contribute to the export of taro products in the country.
