In fact, I don't quite agree with the film as Ang Lee's deliberate "anti-war" or deliberate promotion of American heroism – but only a calm show. I think that since the film has clearly shown the different attitudes of different people to war in American society – whether it is fanaticism, opposition, ridicule, or no concern, or even direct consumption and oppression – what is right or wrong in the shoes of those people themselves, think about it? Everyone has their own life trajectory, except that the stadium workers directly indicate that there is a need for the soldiers to leave immediately, and the shale miners take patriotism as a fig leaf, and nothing more.
Of course, I still agree more with Ang Lee's "want to talk and be ashamed" oriental narrative approach, whether it is the multiple appearances of Ganissa, the elephant head, or the transition from an elongated Hummer to a military Hummer at the end, including the heartache and loss that Billy Lynn realized when he said goodbye to the cheerleaders that he loved only his "American hero" image - and this is the absolute factor in Billy Lynn's determination to return to the battlefield, because the people he wants to protect do not really need her.
And what really needs his protection, his sister, the only person in the whole movie who really cares about him, he still can't protect it—when a room full of people are supporting or leaning toward the war and only his sister is against it, he still can't speak.
Only by returning to the battlefield, the place that brought him honor, could make him seem somewhat valuable.
