At the beginning of the movie, Zhang Guodong's van hit Teacher Bai, who went to the market to buy tiles in order to decorate his family's new house. Because Teacher Bai had a heart attack, Zhang Guodong rushed him to the hospital.
Fortunately, Teacher Bai was only a little frightened, and it was not a big problem, and the van went to the underground parking lot of the hospital for a turn and then walked back. At this time, they saw Dr. Li Jialiang, who was suffering from medical trouble because he failed to save the patient.
Zhang Guodong happily stopped the car to watch the farce, and in his eyes the doctor was no different from the butcher.
Because the workers are going home for the New Year, seeing that the decoration work is about to stagnate, in order to let the son and family and his wife who have returned from abroad can live in a new house, Teacher Bai is worried.

Zhang Guodong considered walking away, but in the end he could not pass the level of his conscience.
He decided to make up for the dead sheep, while going to the hospital every day to take care of Teacher Bai, while taking a group of his brothers to renovate Teacher Bai's home, and finally completed it smoothly before the Spring Festival.
Dr. Li Jialiang secretly bought a ticket for the family of three to go home behind his wife's back, but his wife resolutely refused to go back and decided to resell the ticket.
Li Jialiang, who has always been strict with his wife, finally couldn't bear it this time, and he hid and cried alone.
And he cried, his wife and son were afraid, and quickly chased back the tickets sold, and the family finally decided to go back to the countryside for the New Year together.

The film revolves around the topic of the Spring Festival, presenting us with social problems such as wage arrears, doctor-patient contradictions, further education, and spring festivals, we all live like ants in such a world, struggling painfully in the face of these problems, and the movie does not find answers for us.
Just like the retired cadre Lao Hei, he was able to enjoy full free medical treatment, and made three stents for the heart for 30,000 each.
But ironically, after recovering, he stayed in the hospital and did not leave, because his son was out of town and came home alone.
On the day of Chinese New Year's Eve, when everyone else was eating Chinese New Year's Eve meal, he could only look at the fireworks outside the window and miss his family.
Maybe the New Year just gives us a breather and doesn't solve any substantive problems for us, which is the heaviest part of the movie and its unpleasant side.
Talking about such a slightly heavy topic through the Spring Festival in the New Year is really incompatible with the festive atmosphere, and I think maybe this is the reason for the film's box office fiasco!
