In 1957, he taught at the Shanghai Institute of Sport, and most of his students later became the backbone of the new Chinese boxing community, serving as vice president of the Chinese Boxing Association and being known as the titan of boxing.
Mr. Zhang Lide has close contacts with the Italian boxing community. He said: In his youth, he studied in Beijing and once watched a martial arts performance attended by Wang Qianzhai. Later, he had frequent contact with Yao Zongxun, Dou Shiming, and Yang Shaogeng, and also insisted on practicing Yiquan, studied Yiquan deeply, and successfully integrated the training ideas and strength of Yiquan into boxing. He said to Yang Zhenjie: "The purpose of my practice of Yi Quan was to absorb some things from Yi Quan and create new methods of boxing training. ”
Mr. Zhang Lide, as well as boxers of his generation, made a historic contribution to continuing the boxing business in a "folk" form after the official "suspension" of boxing as a sport for a long time. Of course, the tolerance of institutions of higher learning such as the Shanghai University of Sport has also provided important support for boxing masters such as Zhang Lide to cultivate high, fine and sharp boxing talents in a "folk" way. Until 1980, boxing was "only an experimental activity of a few colleges" in China, and the Shanghai Institute of Sport was among the "few colleges."
In May 1985, when the world boxing king Ali visited China for the second time, during a visit to the Shanghai Sports Academy, he proposed to watch students boxing. At the beginning of Yang Zhenjie's training with the Jiangxi Boxing Team, Zhang Lide felt quite a headache.
