No sooner ……than 一（剛）……就
一般主句謂語動詞采用過去完成時，than從句的謂語動詞采用一般過去，而且No sooner與as soon as相比，前者預想不到的吃驚（驚奇）更強一些; as soon as引導出的是從句：No sooner引導主句總是謂語than從句之前，如放句首，要部分倒裝。
No sooner had we sat down at the table than the phone rang.
我們剛在桌子旁坐下，電話鈴就響了。
I had no sooner reached home than it began to rain.
