Abstract：The purpose of this paper is to find a method of measuring Error Vector Magnitude(EVM) value for WCDMA system transmitter based on MATLAB platform. Author introduced the basic concepts of EVM firstly, then made an analysis of WCDMA transmitter baseband process. According to the calculation of WCDMA transmitter EVM value standard by 3GPP, a software-based method of measuring EVM for WCDMA system transmitter has been proposed and implemented. At last, a comparative test has been made between the software-based method and the the common method of measuring EVM, using Test Instrument. The test result shows that the EVM values measured by software-based (MATLAB) model are consistent with the ones mesured by Test Instrument.
