In the sixth year of Yongzheng, Zeng Jing wanted the general Yue Zhongqi to rebel, but later the Yongzheng Emperor knew about it and personally interrogated him, and Zeng Jing admitted that he believed in rumors and vainly discussed state affairs, which was mistaken by Lü Liuliang and others. In October, Zeng Jing and Zhang Xi were acquitted and released. Yongzheng personally edited the book "The Mystery of the Great Righteousness". Yongzheng died of illness in August of the thirteenth year, and was succeeded by his son Hongli, and the following year, he changed his era name to Qianlong. Just over a month after Qianlong ascended the throne, he ordered the arrest of Zeng Jing and Zhang Xi and killed them after entering Beijing...
The following is an edict written for Qianlong explaining why he did this:
On the eighth day of october in the thirteenth year of Yongzheng, he issued an edict: Zeng Jing rebelled against the Tao, and although he was sentenced to capital punishment, it was not enough to cover up his crimes, but my father and emperor were as holy as heaven and found reasons to forgive him. Zeng Jing's sins were no less than Lü Liuliang's, but my father's emperor was clear and righteous to Lü Liuliang, but he was merciful to Zeng Jing. It was because Lü Liuliang's slanderous discussion involved the Emperor, while Zeng Jing only involved the Father Emperor. Now that he had succeeded to the throne, he should follow the example of his father's handling of Lü Liuliang's case to deal with Zeng Jing's crimes and kill the rebellious leader in order to vent the public anger of his subjects. He specially ordered the governor and inspector of Huguang to immediately lock Zeng Jing and Zhang Xi up, select competent officials, escort them to Beijing, and await trial, and not to neglect or leak, and the families of their concubines were handed over to local officials for strict guard and waiting for the holy will.
On December 19, 1313, Yongzheng issued an edict to the Punishment Department: Zeng Jing and Zhang Xi, rebellious and fierce, rebellious and rebellious. My father, Emperor Sejongxian, the saints weighed as much as the heavens, and thought that their slander was limited to the emperor and spared them the death penalty. He also wrote the decree that "the descendants of the future will not be allowed to pursue this matter and kill them." However, it may be possible to tolerate them while the Father is alive, but it is difficult to forgive them today, when they are on the throne. Although this method of handling before and after is inconsistent, there is no inconsistency from the perspective of natural and human feelings. Moreover, hundreds of millions of subjects throughout the country hate them to the bone and want to punish them as soon as possible. From today's point of view, how can we go against the public indignation in people's hearts? Therefore, For Zeng Jing and Zhang Xi, Zeng Jing and Zhang Xiling should be executed according to the punishment drawn up by the judicial organs.
Attached is the original text of the Qianlong Edict: Yongzheng Thirteenth Year, October 8th, Shangyi. Zeng Jing rebelled against the Tao, although he put it in the extreme, it was not enough to cover his deeds, but my emperor examined the sainthood like heaven, and Qu Jia was lenient. Fu Zengjing's sin was not reduced to Lü Liuliang, and my emperor was examined by Lü Liuliang, and Yu Zengjing was punished by the Ming Dynasty, and Yu Zengjing was outlawed, in order to leave Liang to slander yu Huangzu, and Zeng Was still and Yu Shengye. When emperor Zhao Zhaocheng was in charge of the case of Lü Liuliang, Ming Zheng was guilty of the crime of Rebellion, and the public anger of his subjects was vented. Inspector Huguang took Zeng Jing and Zhang Xi to the line, selected cadres, and released Beijing to await trial, so that they would not be allowed to leak. His concubines were handed over to the magistrates for strict guarding and waiting for orders.
Yongzheng 13 December 19, 19, Ministry of Punishment. Zeng Jing and Zhang Xi, rebellious and fierce, rebellious and rebellious. My Emperor Kao Shi Zongxian, the Holy Degree is like heaven, with its slander, stop and holy bow, and lend him to death. And there is an edict that "future descendants shall not be prosecuted." However, on the day of the imperial examination, it may be tolerated; and today, it is difficult to break the song. Although there are differences in handling before and after, it is not the same in the hearts of the heavens and the people, and the hundreds of millions of subjects are deeply resentful and want to be punished quickly. How can we, for today, stir up the evil of the people's hearts? Zeng Jing and Zhang Xi were executed according to the fasi's plan.
