According to the China Manned Space Engineering Office, at 1:56 Beijing time on May 10, 2022, the Long March 7 Yaowu carrier rocket carrying the Tianzhou-4 cargo spacecraft was ignited and launched at the Wenchang Cosmodrome on the mainland, and about 10 minutes later, the spacecraft and the rocket were successfully separated and entered the predetermined orbit. Subsequently, the Tianzhou-4 cargo spacecraft will rendezvous and dock with the space station assembly operating in orbit.
This is the 22nd launch mission of the mainland manned spaceflight project, the first launch mission of the space station construction from the key technology verification stage to the orbit construction stage, and the 420th flight of the Long March series of carrier rockets.

These materials will provide material support for future astronauts to stay in orbit, assemble and build space stations, carry out material science, microgravity, aerospace medical experiments and other space applications.

Cargo spacecraft stay on the space station for a period of time, so that the space for putting items and waste is relatively large, thereby increasing the effective space for astronauts to move in the cabin and keeping the space station clean.

In this mission, the Changqi rocket has a total of 17 technical status changes such as pre-launch process optimization and reliability improvement. After optimization, the rocket test and launch cycle was reduced from the original 31 days to 27 days. This is the first time that the Long Seven rocket has been tested and launched within a month.
In addition, in order to cope with hainan's humid, hot, rainy, and typhoon-prone marine climate, the Changqi rocket has an all-weather launch capability, which can be parked for 24 hours after the low-temperature fuel refueling, so as to win more favorable time for the successful launch.
