"Reading is an important part of human cultural activities, even if there are networks, films and television today, with a variety of entertainment methods, reading is still the most important means for human beings to obtain information, acquire knowledge, improve their cognitive level, and improve their aesthetic ability." Mo Yan believes that reading is still based on reading classics, and hopes that everyone will take advantage of the promotion of World Book Day to return to their desks and pick up books as soon as possible.

In August this year, the original drama "Red Sorghum Family", based on Mo Yan's novel of the same name, will be put on the stage by the Jiangsu Grand Theatre. The Modern Express reporter learned that the drama was guided by the Propaganda Department of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Propaganda Department of the Shandong Provincial Party Committee of the Communist Party of China, planned by the Jiangsu Cultural Investment Management Group, produced by the Jiangsu Grand Theater, and jointly produced by Fairchild Drama.

From its first publication in 1986 to the present, Mo Yan's "Red Sorghum Family" has gone through 36 years in various art forms. For the adaptation of the drama version, Mo Yan said that he is very much looking forward to it, "The content and way of presenting it are different from the movies, TV series and various local dramas of "Red Sorghum". ”

Mo Yan also sold a close with the audience, and did not make too many spoilers for the focus of the adaptation. He said that he hopes that the drama version of "Red Sorghum Family" will be loved by readers, especially young readers and audiences, "from reading to watching the drama, from watching the drama to reading, producing a good interactive effect." ”

In the podcast, Mo Yan also read aloud excerpts from "Red Sorghum Family" in his hometown dialect. However, he also admitted that his current hometown dialect is not "authentic", "if you try to read it in your hometown dialect, you will be able to read it in the southern and northern tones, and it is better to simply use my current accent to read it." Even though I feel that I speak Mandarin, many people will still hear a very heavy local taste, a very heavy taste of high-density dialects. ”
