Wang Hui Zuhuan BishanFang: Out of the master, retired to Tibet (part 1) Wei Li wrote

Wang Huizu's former residence is located in Dayi Village, Guali Town, Xiaoshan District, Zhejiang Province. When you visit Xiaoshan, of course, you will think of Mr. Zhang Guofu of Xiaoshan Ancient Books Printing Factory, Mr. Zhang has been engaged in the ancient book printing industry for decades, and after his painstaking management, the factory has become one of the three major ancient book printing factories in Jiangnan. I have been dealing with this factory for nearly twenty years, printing many line-bound books in this factory, and it is for this reason that my familiarity with Mr. Zhang exceeds that of other ancient book printing factories. Now that he has come to his turf, he will not hesitate to cause him trouble. Unfortunately, he was not in Hangzhou for the date I had set, but he said he would arrange for his son Zhang Peng to take me on a visit.

I have a relationship with Zhang Peng, a few years ago, Zhang Guofu held a grand wedding for him, and I was impressed by the number of guests who came to the table. But because the wedding banquet was too lively, I did not remember Zhang Peng's appearance. However, when we met at the agreed place in Hangzhou, he recognized me at a glance. It seems that in terms of remembering faces, this Zhang Peng has quite a specialty, and this is also one of the most important advantages of doing business. I showed Zhang Peng my itinerary in the car, because I had booked a flight for the evening, and after he calculated it, he told me that several of the search points on the itinerary were not in the same direction, and that I could only go to two of them in the current time. Zhang Peng was a local, and of course he was more familiar with the geographical environment than I was, so he spent an afternoon visiting two famous monuments. And when he dropped me off at the airport, it was neither early nor too late, which made me admire the young man for his ability to do things.

Take Zhang Peng's car to the airport highway, turn right less than a few kilometers from the airport, and then turn around in the county road, first find the former residence of Ren Bonian, after some twists and turns, and then Benguali Town Dayi Village. From the distance point of view, these two search points are not far away, but there is no convenient straight passage, through several villages and several times to change the path, finally opened to Dayi Village. However, where is Wang Huizu's former residence located in Dayi Village? But I never found the specific information, so I went to the village committee to find out the situation.

Dayi Village Committee

Judging from the situation in recent years, townships and towns around the country have paid more and more attention to local cultural celebrities, which is in contrast to more than a decade ago. In the past, when I went to the local area to inquire, the village committee and other institutions were very impatient, but in recent years, they have been much more enthusiastic when encountering this situation. After all, society is progressing, and every thought is very gratifying, and today's situation is equally gratifying.

At the intersection in the east of the village, he quickly found the village committee, Zhang Peng was worried that I could not speak the local dialect, he parked the car, and took the initiative to run into the village committee to inquire. A few minutes later, Zhang Peng brought out a middle-aged man named Wang Jianguo, who was a member of the village committee of Dayi Village. He told me that Wang Huizu's former residence had collapsed a few years earlier. But even so, I wanted to go there to take pictures. I asked Wang Jianguo about the street name and house number of the former residence site, and he said that there was no house number there, so it was not easy to find. He thought for a moment and said to me, "Let's go, I'll take you." Of course, this situation could not be sought, so I asked him to sit in the co-pilot's seat and let Zhang Peng drive into the village.

Wang Huizu wrote the "Three Histories and The Same List" in forty volumes, jiaqing three-year edition, the beginning of the volume

On the way, Wang Jianguo told me about the changes in Wang Huizu's former residence, and he said that Wang Huizu was not valued before, but in recent years, it has suddenly heated up because someone has written a book to introduce wang Huizu's situation. I think he may be talking about Bao Yongjun's "Shaoxing Master Wang Huizu Study", but Wang Jianguo said that there were many books before this book called "Shaoxing Master". After I came back, I checked it out, and sure enough, many people have written monographs on the title of "Master Shaoxing", such as the 1994 edition of the Fujian People's Society by Wang Zhenzhong, the 1995 edition of the Shanghai Ancient Books Society by Guo Jian, and Guo Jian also wrote a book "Master Is the Master", in addition to many related research papers. I am ashamed to say that I only pay attention to Wang Huizu's achievements in collecting books, and he is the master of Shaoxing, but I have never studied it.

Wang Jianguo told me that the village attaches great importance to Wang Huizu, and their village committee has been planning for several years to start reconstruction of Wang Huizu's former residence next year. At the same time, he also told me that there is still a Wang ancestral hall in the village, which is now occupied by the primary school, and they are now trying to find a way to vacate it.

The car stopped at an intersection in the village, and then followed Wang Jianguo out of the car and walked through the alleys of Dayi Village. He said that the road here is narrow and cannot be passed by car, and the road passed by people greets Wang Jianguo from time to time. Zhang Peng told me that the villagers were asking him what he was taking people to do, and he replied that they were going to see Wang Huizu's former residence. I could see from the faces of those villagers that everyone in the village was quite familiar with Wang Huizu. So I asked Wang Jianguo, are there any descendants of Wang Huizu among these villagers? He said there were many. I suddenly remembered that he himself was also surnamed Wang, so I asked him if he was also a descendant of Wang Huizu. He said calmly, "Of course, I am the nineteenth generation grandson of Wang Huizu." Listening to what he said made me very excited, no wonder he knew so much about Wang Huizu. But Wang Jianguo told me that in the past, people did not pay so much attention to his ancestor Wang Huizu because he was not famous enough in society. Since the study of the master has become lively, it has prompted the descendants of the Wang clan in this village to be proud of having this ancestor.

Remnants of Wang Huizu's former residence

During the conversation, we entered a narrow alley, and the floor of this alley was paved with large dark red stones. Wang Jianguo said that this is the road in the courtyard of Wang Huizu's former residence, and the left and right sides of this road were originally within the range of the former residence. Looking out, there are some simple houses on the right side of the strip, and there is also a vegetable garden of tens of square meters. On the left side of the road is an old house that has been half demolished, with a large piece of rubble in front of the house. Wang Jianguo said that these were originally houses in Wang Huizu's former residence, but they collapsed a few years ago, and have not been built since then.

The collapsed garbage heap was overgrown with greenery

Walking along the stone road, its paving area is 100 meters long, and Wang Huizu's former residence is so large, which subverts the ugly understanding that I think that The master is only a staff entourage and will not be too rich. During the Jiaqing period, Wang Huizu retired to his hometown, which gave him time to organize his collection of books, after which he compiled a volume of "Bibliography of Huanbi Mountain House". He wrote in the preface to this Bibliography: "Yu Xiao Gulu, the ancestor of the hand Ze only carved the two books of "Ancient Wen Jie Feng" and "Chen Review 46". The "Gangjian Zhengshi Covenant" is a part, false uncles, and few returns. In the fourteenth and fifteenth year, see the "Five Classics Compilation", such as the secret jane of Lang Huan. Not only did he make up for the disciples of the doctor, his family was extremely poor, and he had two mothers and ten fingers in food and clothing, and he could not have a book. I borrowed a selection of ancient texts from a friend, copied it with the intention of copying it, and did not end up with it. Having read the law, among the senders, the master has inserted the book, read it slightly, the official affairs are not easy, failed to read, and read nothing. He is thirty-nine years old. You Jingshi, the side of mr. Lord's introduction, very ashamed to learn late, urgently go to the west gate of the Glass Factory, the city got the "Book of Han", return to the yu to read it. ”

Wang Hui Zuhuan BishanFang: Out of the master, retired to Tibet (part 1) Wei Li wrote

From the length of the stone road, you can feel the size of the former residence

It seems that the original number of books in Wang Huizu's family is very small, and even ordinary books make Wang Huizu, who loves books, regard them as treasures. Because his family was too poor, he could only borrow books from others to copy, but many people did not wait for him to finish copying and wanted to go back, such a mood can be imagined. Later, he became an aide to the official family, and was able to look through the books in his house from his master. Later, because of the examiner, he came to Beijing and bought a copy of the Book of Han at Liulichang. Liulichang was the largest book market in China at that time, and Wang Huizu, who loved books so much, only bought one book here, which shows how shy he was.

But later he passed the jinshi examination: "And cheng jinshi, yi kuo yu, more abundant, the ancestors' will be completed in succession, the museum is in the middle of the house, and the book practitioners have been practicing for seven or eight years, gathering dozens of hundreds of books." Choose the capital gate, increase what you want, about a car, please rush over. "When he became a jinshi, he became an official, and his income increased, and he used his income to deal with the old affairs in the family, so he began to deal with booksellers, and from then on he began his process of buying books."

For his own book purchase, Wang Huizu said in the preface: "Yuyin is decaying, the family has no spare funds, and it can no longer gather books." Although the books gathered, the class of the book is always seen, there is no pillow secret, but he has devoted his life to this area. If it is not easy to gain, then it is not lost. Descendants of the world shall not give to others, and shall not be fake, that is, if they encounter close friends and noble officials, they shall not violate this precept of mine and give them private leave. Du Renren filial piety, flawless, unique copy of the history, left in the family school. If you cannot examine the writings, you do not have to go upstairs to open your eyes, resulting in losses. ”

Wang Huizu sighed and said that he was too old to go out to make money as an official, so he could only sort out his own collection. And there are no rare books in his collection, but even so, he also has the psychology of self-cherishing. He instructed his sons not to give away his books or lend them, not even to his relatives and close friends. If it is not a special situation, it is generally not possible to go upstairs and pick up the book. This passage of his is likely to be modeled on the last instructions left by Fan Qing, the master of Tianyi Pavilion, to his descendants. It seems that the Reason why Tianyi Ge Shi Shou Chen Was able to maintain it for a long time was because of such impersonal regulations. The contradiction between collection and use will always exist, which depends on what mentality the owner of the book treats his own collection.

Wang Huizu wrote "Traces of Sick Bed Dreams" The inscription of Shandong Bookstore in the twelfth year of Qing Guangxu, the beginning of the volume

Through this discussion, I instinctively thought that Wang Huizu was just a conscientious reader, although he had been a master for many years and later served as a county order, but he should not have much money. For example, he said in his autobiographical "Traces of Sick Bed Dreams": "Yu is unfortunate and lonely, the ancestors left more than ten acres of land, the quality of the code is again, fortunately returned to the original." For decades, 70 acres of Masuda were sacrificed to more than 40 acres, and the five men suffered only a few acres. For four years as an official, Lu envied not much, not enough to buy property, according to the children's generations, listen to their life. Wei Pei, the trenches are naïve and weak, and they have to rely on Manager Yu, and many men are tired, and they cannot swim for Xiangping Wuyue. ”

Wang Jianguo said that both sides were originally the old houses of the Wang family

Wang Huizu said that although his family's ancestors left more than a dozen acres of land, because they often lacked money, these lands were pawned to others many times. When he himself became a master, he would redeem the land with the money he earned, and at the same time add seventy acres of land. In his later years, Wang Huizu distributed the land he had bought so hard, and apart from leaving some indiscriminate ones, the five sons each received only a few acres. This was really not a propertied class in that era. Therefore, I saw such a large area on the original site of his former residence, and in terms of this industry, Wang Huizu should also be one of the richest households in Dayi Village during the Qianlong period.
