Although he had just won the championship in the second season of "Dance Storm", dancer Xie Xin was still a little confused when facing Yin Fang's new work "Entropy", and felt that he had encountered a problem.
Some people know Yin Fang because of the movie "Blue Bones", "Red Sea Action", "Young You", and some people know Yin Fang because of the TV series "New World", in fact, in the dance world, he still has a piece of "self-reserved land" and is an active dancer and choreographer.

The contemporary dance "Entropy" is the first full-length choreography work of Yin Fang after 6 years away from the stage. From March 19th to 21st, this new work commissioned by Shanghai International Dance Center Theater, choreographed by Yin Fang, led by Xie Xin, and produced and performed by Xie Xin Dance Theater, will be premiered in the world of The National Dance Theater for four consecutive performances.
The work borrows the thermodynamic concept of "entropy", treats the dancer's body as a crop of rational materials, writes the order pattern under the concept of the body, and simulates the dynamic process of "entropy reduction" and "entropy increase". It sounds like a work that only science men can understand and understand.
As the lead actor, Xie Xin and the other 7 dancers were difficult to understand at first.
"He would say some words in the rehearsal hall that everyone didn't understand, which we simply called 'Fang Yan Sheng' and 'Fang Li Fang Qi'. For example, 'Shoot yourself out like a sword through someone else's body.' 'Ride on someone else's body, step on the clouds, distribute your own weight in the distance...' But slowly, we can understand these strange words he says. ”
Xie Xin said that the biggest challenge is that Yin Fang has set a lot of rules and restrictions on the dancer's body, and at the same time, "he hopes that we will establish cooperation in a more rational way, and we must make each movement effective, effective, and produce results, rather than doing so many unnecessary, beautiful, and decorative movements." ”
Although the dance is not easy to dance, the dancers have a very good impression of Yin Fang, and the girls even call him "Brother Fang Fang" and collectively praise him for his patience and good temper.
"He's nice in himself, but he's also a grinding leprechaun!" Xie Xin complained in a colorful voice about this old friend who had known each other for more than ten years, "He just sat there and watched, the next sentence is always, this is not OK, come again, is there anything else?" In August 2020, "Entropy" was auditioned at the National Dance Theater, with personal thinking and aesthetic guarantees, and it has surprised many audiences when it first takes shape. After half a year of premiering, whether it is choreography, or music, choreography, costumes, "Entropy" has been comprehensively upgraded.
Dancers danced in front, and a band of piano, cello and percussion accompanied by live music at the back of the stage, and the performance exploded.
"If the dancer's body is experimental material, I want music to dominate the experiment to intervene and decide the dancer's next steps." When the band is placed on the stage, it will have one more perspective and identity, and one more imagination space. ”
Wang Yubo, who composed music for the high-profile film "Bursting into Silence", was invited by Yin Fang to create original music for "Entropy", and he is also a piano player on stage. He was recommended to Yin Fang by HuaDong, the lead singer of the right to reshape the statue, "We don't know and haven't cooperated, but I believe in the aesthetics of East China." Teacher Wang quickly made a sample, I was very surprised to hear it, I did not expect that the first cooperation was so appetizing. ”
Yin Fang has his own ideas in music, removing emotions and simplifying melodies. Wang Yubo joined the creation at the end of January, the time is too tight, almost every day to stay up late, "contemporary dance is not like a movie, to restrain emotions, so we reached a consensus at the beginning, to reduce the traditional sense of musicality, melody." I quickly thought of minimalist music and sequential music, trying to elaborate from such a dimension. ”
The dancers' costumes have now been refurbished to the third edition. In one scene, they collectively wear large suits and swim in the darkness, like sleepwalking in the urban jungle at night. Such a shape has a strong sense of fashion and urbanity, and in order to enhance the sense of urbanity and increase the strength under the feet, Yin Fang once let the dancers wear black lace-up leather shoes. After the shoes were put on, they were either too slippery or too astringent, affecting the dancing, and he finally decided to give up or let everyone wear socks.
Because he had to shoot a scene, Yin Fang didn't usually practice much, but when he demonstrated to the dancers, he was handy, and he could always quickly find the exercise he needed, "How to do it so well?!" This was something I didn't expect. Yin Fang was a little happy, but also a little hesitant. The dance creation delights and satisfies him, and if there is a new idea, he is happy to return to this reserved land.
"Although he is filming, when you return to the rehearsal hall, you will find that he knows his body, and when he moves, he is very attractive. If I had been off the stage for so long, it would have been very difficult for me to be like him. This makes Xie Xin very envious, "His brain and body are connected, the brain wants a direction, the body can achieve." In the past few years since he left dance, he has been throwing away some of his habits, and what remains now is his understanding of dance. ”
After its premiere in Shanghai, "Entropy" will also be invited to tour Beijing and Guangdong, and now it has received an invitation to perform at the 2021 Venice Biennale in Italy.
