The name of our Teacher, Shakyamuni Buddha, was established by him in response to the root nature of all beings in our world.
"Shakya" translates to Chinese, called Nengren, able to be merciful to others. In our world, we are as small as our own poor health and disharmonious in our families; as large as the country is not united and the world is not at peace, in the final analysis, it is because of selfishness. In a family, both husband and wife only consider themselves, not each other, and after a long time, they will inevitably go their separate ways. If we consider each other, then the family must be harmonious and happy. A country is also like this, why is there war in the world? It boils down to greed, selfishness.
"Muni" means silence, not loneliness, but concentration, wisdom. In today's society, not only people's hearts climb outward, but the color, sound, fragrance and touch of the outer edge have also become our helpers, making us feel excited and impetuous. Our sense of self is covered by the dust of desires and desires, so there will be all kinds of physical diseases, mental diseases, and people need to return the mind to the silence and silence of its own nature.
Shakyamuni Buddha knew that the root cause of the suffering of sentient beings in the world was selfishness and greed, so he took this name as a medicine to cure the selfish and impetuous diseases of sentient beings. When we chant Nam no Shakyamuni Buddha, we are chanting "Nam no Compassion, Nam No Silence", which can awaken inner compassion, stimulate positive energy of benevolence to others, and also make the mind calm and stable. Therefore, chanting the Buddha is not only reciting this Buddha's name on the lips, it is actually awakening our self-consciousness.
