As the birthplace of the Communist Party of China and the original birthplace, Shanghai is rich in red resources and colorful urban scenery. On the afternoon of September 10th, the special activity of "Taking the Subway, Exploring the Red Footprints of The Masters" and the 2021 "Tribute to Shanghai Social Science Masters" Teachers' Day special event jointly sponsored by the Municipal Federation of Social Societies, the Municipal Spiritual Civilization Office and the Shentong Metro held a warm launching ceremony at the Exhibition Hall of the Communist Manifesto (Chen Wangdao's former residence).
Ren Xiaowen, full-time vice chairman of the Shanghai Federation of Social Sciences, Wu Xinyi, director of the Party Building Work Department of Shanghai Shentong Metro Group Co., Ltd., Xia Xiaoting, deputy director of the Activity Guidance Department of the Office of the Shanghai Spiritual Civilization Construction Committee, and Zhou Ye, director of the Party School Office of the Party Committee of Fudan University, launched the online activity of "Taking the Subway and Exploring the Red Footprints of the Masters" at the ceremony. Chen Zhenxin, son of Chen Wangdao, and Chen Guanglei, a student of Chen Wangdao and professor of Fudan University, attended the event to tell the story of Wanglao's love for students and children for the student representatives of Fudan University, and put forward a message to the students, hoping that they would strive to be the inheritors of the spirit of the master, study hard, love to think, and integrate their personal ideals and ambitions into the magnificent national and ethnic undertakings. At the ceremony, the book "Shanghai Masters of Social Sciences" (the first series) was released.
The scene of the event
In this glorious city, where the red gene has been integrated into the blood, perhaps in a lively street, in an inconspicuous old house of Shikumen, people have inadvertently passed by the place where these great gentlemen used to work, live or fight: Shanghai University, founded in 1922, as a fortress of the anti-imperialist patriotic movement, has trained a large number of revolutionary cadres. In 1924, Shanghai University moved from Qingyun Road to Seymour Road (now North Shaanxi Road). Two years later, at the age of 15, Tan Qijun was admitted to Shanghai University and joined the Communist Youth League. During the third armed uprising of the Shanghai workers, he rushed to the front line with a commander with a pistol. The ruins of Shanghai University are now located on the grass of Lane 299, North Shaanxi Road, Jing'an District, surrounded by Shanghai's bustling commercial facilities and shopping malls.
Historian Zhou Gucheng participated in the May Fourth Movement in his early years, and later served as an adviser to the Hunan Provincial Peasants' Association and a teacher at the Provincial Peasant Movement Training Institute at the invitation of Mao Zedong during his teaching at the Hunan First Division. His discipline also shifted from philosophical speculation to the study of the current state of Chinese society and its history. In September 1949, the first meeting of the Chinese Political Consultative Conference was held in Beijing, and Zhou Gucheng was invited by Mao Zedong to attend the meeting. Take Line 10 and get off at Jiaotong University Station to explore Zhou Gucheng's former residence in Lane 115, Tai'an Road, Shanghai from 1975 to 1996, and the home of composer and music theorist He Luting is not far from the road.
There are three memorial sites for masters near the South Shaanxi Road subway station, such as Gu Tinglong, a bibliographer and librarian who risked his life to protect a number of books and periodicals that spread Marxism-Leninism and propagated the Communist Party while serving as director general of the United Public Library at 746 Changle Road. Among these precious historical materials are more than 100 kinds of precious historical materials, such as the rare copy of the Communist Manifesto translated by Chen Wangdao and published in August 1920, and the 1926 edition of "Recent Situations of the Chinese Peasant Movement".
The event will focus on 20 Shanghai social science masters closely related to red culture, and their memorial sites are spread around 15 stations on 5 subway lines. From now on, there will be 5,000 master maps for passengers to collect for free at 10 stations such as Hengshan Road Station and People's Square Station of Line 1, Jiaotong University Station of Line 10, Shanghai Library Station, Hongcao Road Station of Line 12, Jing'an Temple Station of Line 2, East Nanjing Road Station, Hongkou Football Stadium Station of Line 8, Middle Huaihai Road Station of Line 13, and South Shaanxi Road of Line 12. Citizens can further understand the patriotic feelings, academic spirit, academic achievements and struggles of Shanghai social science masters through the "Civilized Shanghai Self-Cultivation Cloud" Master Memorial Site, listening to the stories of the radio version of the "Sea Pioneer" master, and participating in the "Learning to Strengthen the Country" competition.
