"The scenery outside the cyprus is different in autumn", the migratory birds fly south without noticing. The falcon nodded its head and flew south, and flocks of geese and ducks roared in. It is almost mid-autumn, and migratory birds fly down the sandbank and hide in the reeds. On September 14, in the Yellow River wetland of Mengjin, Henan, many migratory birds flying south can already be seen. Some are ready to stay here for a long time and go north next spring, and some are open belly, ready to eat and drink enough, replenish their physical strength, reserve energy, and then continue south.
"These little yellow-breasted guys have come to peck at rice in the early rice fields of the Yellow River wetland in Mengjin and eat them." Ma Chaohong, a senior engineer at the Mengjin Management Center of the Yellow River Wetland National Nature Reserve in Henan, said that the migration of migratory birds in the autumn and winter of this year has begun.
What Ma Chaohong said was the yellow-breasted bunting. On August 14 this year, they were observed in the Waseda fields and reeds. However, they are not ready to spend the winter here, but after a month of full meals in the Mengjin Yellow River wetland, they continue to fly south with full energy.
This year, the adjusted "List of Wild Animals under National Key Protection" was announced, and the yellow-breasted bunting was successfully upgraded to a national first-class protected animal. The level of protection is higher, they appear in the Yellow River wetlands of Henan, and their significance and importance are self-evident.
Ma Chaohong said that the yellow-breasted bunting is a transit bird. By next spring, after embarking on the journey back to the north, they will choose to rest in the Mengjin Yellow River wetland for a while, and then continue to fly north after replenishing their energy.
At present, the number of yellow-breasted bunting in the Mengjin Yellow River wetland is still considerable. According to observations, the number of yellow-breasted buntings is around 200.
The most common "advance troops" for migratory birds are falcons. When you come to the Mengjin Yellow River Wetland National Nature Reserve, you can often see eagle falcons flying at high altitudes, harriers that sometimes glide, and black capuchins with beautiful postures after opening their wings.
On a small island on the shore, a small flock of wild birds rests. The most conspicuous white is the great egret, and a less conspicuous heron. Next to them are the one-size-smaller wild ducks.
"There are a few spot-billed ducks, and they're the resident birds here and can often be seen. There are also 8 green-winged ducks, which fly from the north and are winter migratory birds here. Through the telescope, Ma Chaohong excitedly told the Reporter of the Great River News that the migration of migratory birds has begun, but it has not yet reached the peak.
The same is a wild bird, why are there still resident birds, winter migratory birds, summer migratory birds? The Grand River News reporter learned that migratory birds refer to birds that migrate regularly with the change of seasons to change habitat, and resident birds are local birds that are active all year round. The common resident birds in Zhengzhou are sparrows, magpies, spot-billed ducks, egrets and so on.

Summer migratory birds refer to flying to a certain area in the spring and summer to build a nest and have children, and to fly to a warmer place in the south to spend the winter in the autumn. Ma Chaohong said that the cliff swallows in the Mengjin Yellow River wetland are summer migratory birds, most of which have completed migration, and only a few are still active in the wetland.
Winter migratory birds are birds that fly to a certain area in winter to overwinter, fly to the north to breed in the spring of the following year, and when the young birds grow up, it is autumn, and then fly to the original area to overwinter. Ma Chaohong said that the green-winged duck mentioned above is a winter migratory bird in the Mengjin Yellow River wetland, such as some geese and gray cranes.
