In order to help Twitch streamers avoid copyright issues involving background music, the platform has launched an app called Soundtrack. Not only does it eliminate background music, but it also separates music from streaming to ensure that copyrighted music is not included when editing videos. Specifically, users can listen in real time, but will not include copyrighted music during on-demand playback.

Streaming platforms have long suggested that streamers enrich their live streaming experiences with background music. Typically, streamers don't receive DMCA copyright infringement removal notices for most of the music used during the stream. However, if copyrighted music is included in cases such as post-recording, the record company will take action.

To facilitate the separation of BGM audio tracks from video sources, Soundtrack works with popular live streaming software (including OBS, Streamlabs OBS, Twitch Studio, etc.) and provides additional functionality.

Twitch says all pop music from indie artists that accompany Soundtrack is licensed, so streamers can use it with confidence during the live stream. After the invitation-based beta period ends, the app will also be available to more people.
