Recently, the National Textbook Work Conference and the First National Textbook Construction Award Commendation Meeting were held in Beijing. In this selection, the People's Education Publishing House has two basic education textbooks won the special prize, 61 basic education, higher education and vocational education textbooks won the first and second prizes, the history editing room of the People's Education Society won the "National Advanced Collective for Textbook Construction", and Chen Xianyun, senior editor of the primary school language editing room, won the "National Advanced Individual in Textbook Construction".
The National Textbook Construction Award is the first time since the founding of New China that a special award project covering all fields of textbook construction has been established, and it is also the highest award in the field of national textbook construction, aiming to commend all kinds of outstanding textbooks at all levels and advanced collectives and advanced individuals who have made outstanding contributions. Keep a good direction and hold your position
Shouldering the important mission of cultivating talents for the party and the country, Renjiaosha was founded in 1950 as the first professional publishing institution established in New China, and was served as the first president by the famous writer and educator Ye Shengtao. For more than 70 years, as the national team and main force in the compilation, research and publication of basic education textbooks, Renjiaosha has used its current research, compilation and publication of 11 sets of national general primary and secondary school textbooks, and has published more than 70,000 kinds of various publications and a circulation of more than 75 billion copies, accompanying the growth of generations of Chinese teenagers.
As a "witness" to the history of the reform of the basic education curriculum and the construction of teaching materials in New China, the People's Education Society presided over or participated in the formulation of the syllabus and curriculum standards of various subjects in primary and secondary schools. In the 1950s and 1960s, the Renjiao Society conscientiously summed up the experience of the construction of red textbooks in the Liberated Areas, actively studied the advanced experience of Soviet textbooks, and explored and established a textbook system that met the needs of socialist construction in New China.
Since the reform and opening up, as a participant and an important implementer of the reform and innovation of national textbooks, the Renjiao Society has continuously strengthened the academic research of basic education courses and teaching materials to explore the regularity of textbook construction itself. In 1983, the Institute of Curriculum and Textbooks was established and co-located with the Humanities and Education Society. Since then, renjiaosha has founded academic journals such as "Curriculum, Teaching Materials, and Teaching Methods", which has built an authoritative academic platform for the study of curriculum textbooks nationwide. With the pace of China's active integration into the world, the ties between the various undertakings of renjiaosha and their counterparts in various countries in the world have also been gradually strengthened, and the classic textbooks of Sino-foreign cooperation such as "Sino-Japanese Exchange Standard Japanese" and "Sino-British Joint Compilation of Junior High School English Textbooks" have been launched.
At the beginning of the twenty-first century, the state vigorously promoted the diversification of teaching materials, further introduced the market competition mechanism for the publication and distribution of teaching materials, and nearly a hundred writers and publishing units entered the field of textbook publishing, forming a situation of "a hundred flowers blooming". On the one hand, the Renjiao Society actively learns from excellent publishing institutions and fraternal units, on the other hand, it continues to increase the research of curriculum teaching materials, continuously improves the quality of textbook writing, and successively launches the standard experimental teaching materials for the curriculum at the compulsory education stage and the high school stage (the tenth set of teaching materials in the human-taught edition). In 2011, the eleventh set of teaching materials in the human-taught edition was revised and launched. This set of teaching materials is currently selected by more than 60% of primary and secondary schools in the country. In this selection, a variety of textbooks in this set of textbooks won awards, among which "General High School Mathematics Textbook (A Edition)" won the special prize.
Since the Eighteenth National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Party Central Committee has clearly put forward that the construction of teaching materials is a matter of state affairs, and has called for the unified compilation, examination and use of teaching materials with strong ideological attributes. While making all-out efforts to compile and publish the eleventh set of teaching materials, the Renjiao Society was entrusted by the Ministry of Education to gloriously undertake the task of editing and publishing the textbooks for the three subjects of ethics and rule of law (ideology and politics), language, and history. In the work of editing and publishing textbooks for the three subjects, the Renjiao Society has strengthened ideological checks, carried forward the core socialist values, China's excellent traditional culture, revolutionary culture and advanced socialist culture, and embodied a high degree of political awareness and political standing. Renjiao people continue to carry forward the spirit of being particularly able to endure hardships, fighting and dedication, which once again demonstrates the strength of the national team and the main force of teaching materials. Since September 2017, compulsory education has compiled three textbooks on ethics and rule of law, language and history, published and distributed by the Renjiao Society, and used uniformly in the beginning grades of the national compulsory education stage, and in the autumn of 2019, all grades have been fully covered, and about 150 million students have used the new teaching materials for the three subjects of volunteer education. The three subjects of the high school textbook were launched in 2017 and will be put into use in 21 provinces in 2020, with about 5.23 million students using the new textbooks. The central leading comrades spoke highly of the editing and publishing of the textbooks of the three subjects, and praised the "successful completion" and "indispensable contribution" of this soul-casting project. In this selection, the textbooks of "Ethics and Rule of Law", "Language" and "History" compiled by compulsory education won the special prize in the basic education category.
In recent years, renjiao has also cooperated with the Macao SAR Government to compile and publish teaching materials such as Macao's "History", "Character and Citizenship", and "Geography", focusing on cultivating Macao students' feelings of "loving the country and macao". In addition to the field of basic education textbooks, renjiaosha has also been deeply engaged in many teaching materials such as higher education, vocational adult education, special education, teacher education, early childhood education and other teaching materials for many years, and has compiled many classic textbooks such as "Pedagogy" (edited by Wang Daojun and Guo Wen'an) for decades.
Academic support Compilation and research integration
In the long-term exploration and practice, renjiao society has formed a unique style of "editing and research integration, academic establishment society". From the very beginning of the establishment of the society, Mr. Ye Shengtao, the first president, a famous writer and educator, often warned his colleagues: "When writing textbooks, we must not pick up vegetables in baskets, but like bees, we must absorb the essence of a hundred flowers and brew honey. These words were also regarded as unwritten "social training" by the editors of the Church in later generations, and they were practiced and carried forward.
In the social history archives of the Renjiao Society, the reports and notes of the editors of the 1960s who went deep into the front-line classrooms, factories and mines, and rural areas to conduct research, as well as the records of discussions with teachers across the country and the letters and manuscripts of teachers from all over the country are still preserved. These include a year-long lecture record and reflection summary by several editors at Jingshan School, Fengsheng Hutong School and Erlong Road Primary School in Beijing. For decades, under the guidance of rigorous academic attitude and craftsman spirit, renjiao people have carried out the compilation and publication of textbooks, built a research-oriented and learning-oriented team, and cultivated a professional and high-quality teaching material construction talent team.
The establishment of the Curriculum and Textbook Research Institute in 1983 was an action consciousness and practical reinforcement of the concept of "integration of compilation and research, academic society". The backbone editors of the Renjiao Society are experts in various disciplines, and the textbook editors of the Renjiao Society are the compilers, researchers, and trainers of the teaching materials - this is not only the characteristic of the Renjiao Society as a national team for the construction of teaching materials, but also the advantage that the Renjiao Society should have in maintaining the main force of teaching material construction.
Since the reform and opening up, the Renjiao Society has completed 31 projects of the state and the Ministry of Education, and the academic achievements have been transformed into the preparation of teaching materials in a timely manner. Since 2013, Renjiaosha has been allowed to establish the first postdoctoral workstation in the field of educational publishing, focusing on cultivating high-end talents in curriculum, textbooks and educational publishing research.
In the new era, renjiaoshe continues to carry out in-depth basic education curriculum, teaching materials, teaching and evaluation research to provide guarantees for comprehensively improving the quality of teaching materials; strengthen digital publishing and digital teaching research, empower integrated development, including steadily promoting the construction of key laboratories for integrated development, establishing the "Renjiao Digital Education Research Institute", carrying out "research related to digital textbooks for primary and secondary schools", and completing the drafting of a number of "national standards for digital teaching materials".
Renjiaosha also integrates high-quality academic skills into the quality construction of teaching materials. The People's Education Society has strengthened the construction of the quality assurance system for editing and proofreading, carried out sampling inspections of finished books in accordance with the principle of full variety coverage and full coverage; carried out pre-press inspection of textbooks compiled in the three disciplines, textbooks sent for review, and books with major topics for the record; formulated the "Measures for the Management of Editing Quality" and "Detailed Rules for Determining The Quality Errors in Book Editing", etc., established a normalized working mechanism for editing and proofreading quality training, and ensured the quality of textbook editing; strengthened the construction of the printing quality of textbooks and books, and comprehensively promoted green printing. At present, the printing quality of the primary and secondary school textbooks of the Renjiao edition has been significantly improved, and the competitiveness of the textbooks of the Renjiao Society has also been further improved.
All along, renjiao has maintained the academic strength and practical ability of the national team and professional team of textbook construction. A number of experts and scholars have worked hard and made silent contributions to this special contingent of hundreds of millions of students who have provided "basic rations of knowledge," and many of them have important influences in the domestic academic circles, such as Ye Shengtao, Lü Shuxiang, Dai Botao, Liu Xuanyu, Fang Zongxi, Wu Boxi, Zhang Zhigong, Zhang Zhongxing, Xin Anting, and so on.
In the new era, renjiaosha has also cultivated a new generation of editorial talents in various ways. In view of the major problems in the preparation and editing of textbooks, the Renjiao Society has identified a number of application-oriented research projects, such as "research on the vertical and horizontal connection of human-taught textbooks", "research on the scientific nature of graphics in human-taught textbooks", "research on the relevance of human-taught textbooks to classroom teaching", etc., requiring all textbook editing departments of various disciplines to participate.
In order to strengthen the construction of the cadre team, the Renjiao Society has created a perfect training system within the society. Organize training and training activities such as "people teaching lecture halls", special lectures, foreign training, tutor system, education internships, etc.; carry out cadre selection work such as job competition and job rotation exchanges; organize the implementation of assessment and evaluation and title evaluation, etc., and strive to build a high-quality and professional talent team to provide talent guarantee for career development.
At present, there are more than 20 branches and professional committees of the China Education Society that are affiliated with the Renjiao Society, and many editors and researchers in the society serve as the chairmen, vice presidents or secretaries-general of various branches and professional committees.
After years of tempering and countless reforms and explorations, renjiaoshe has a strong research, editing, publishing and training force for textbooks. In recent years, among the talents of the Renjiao Society, 21 people have successively been experts who enjoy special government allowances of the State Council; 6 people have been rated as "leading talents in the national news and publishing industry"; 3 people have been "four batches" of talents in the national propaganda and cultural system; and 2 people have been winners of the "Taofen Publishing Award".
Rooted in education, service education
For a long time, renjiaosha has been a public institution directly under the Ministry of Education. In 2010, Renjiaosha completed the restructuring of enterprises and became a large state-owned cultural publishing enterprise, with the new identity of "People's Education Publishing House Co., Ltd." However, no matter how the identity changes, the Renjiao Society always adheres to the purpose of taking root in education and serving education, insists on putting social benefits in the first place, and strives to achieve the unity of social benefits and economic benefits.
Since the 1950s, renjiaosha has worked closely with the publishing institutions of various provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government) to jointly explore and establish a textbook supply cooperation model of "rent-type agent". The printing and distribution of teaching materials throughout the country in the form of rental agents ensures that students throughout the country can universally achieve "pre-class to book, one book per person", creatively solves the problem of nearly 200 million primary and secondary school students in China to open schools at the same time, and effectively promotes the realization of national education fairness.
The construction of special education teaching materials is an important part of the cause of basic education. The compilation, research, and publication of textbooks for the blind, deaf, and peizhi schools of the Renjiao Society have quietly gone through more than 30 years of history. As early as the 1990s, the People's Education Publishing House was entrusted by the State Education Commission at that time to undertake the task of compiling and publishing textbooks for special schools. In 1994, the Human Education Society organized manpower to begin compiling and publishing full-time textbooks for schools for the deaf and for the blind. As a result, Renjiaoshe has become the only publishing house in China to publish special textbooks for compulsory education in all varieties, and invests tens of millions of yuan every year to ensure the smooth progress of this work. At present, entrusted by the Ministry of Education, the Renjiao Society is compiling the second set of national textbooks for special education schools in the compulsory education stage of blindness, deafness and intellectual training. Up to now, 206 textbooks in 13 disciplines of blind schools, 74 volumes of 8 disciplines of deaf schools, and 36 volumes of 3 disciplines of Peizhi have been completed, with a total of 316 textbooks, of which 207 textbooks have been put into use, and according to the textbook preparation plan, the preparation of 473 textbooks in a total of 38 disciplines will be completed in 2023.
In order to help education get rid of poverty, the Renjiao Society has set up a leading group and working group for education poverty alleviation, based on its own professional characteristics and superior resources, poverty alleviation and wisdom alleviation, and continuously increased the intensity of education poverty alleviation in Yunnan, Tibet, Xinjiang and other places, through the continuous selection of cadres on temporary posts, support for local education undertakings, donation of educational resources, the development of consumption poverty alleviation, and the launch of the "Western Lecture Tour Activity of Unified Compilation of Three Subjects Textbooks" for the three districts and three prefectures, etc., to effectively implement the targeted poverty alleviation and help win the battle against poverty.
In 2020, in the face of the sudden outbreak of new crown pneumonia, the Renjiaoshe Society acted quickly and faced difficulties - providing free download of the human-taught version of the electronic textbook service to more than 200 million teachers and students across the country, with a total of more than 600 varieties of more than 20 disciplines and more than 300 million people visiting within half a year; providing digital teaching materials and services worth 210 million yuan to 6 million primary and secondary school teachers and students in Hubei for free; and opening up the "Human-Taught Reading" APP digital resources worth about 240 million yuan free of charge Actively undertake a large number of review work of the national primary and secondary school network cloud classroom video courses, and contribute to the professional strength of the human education society during the epidemic.
In recent years, renjiaosha has actively oriented itself to education administrative departments at all levels, teaching and research institutions, schools, teachers, students and parents at all levels across the country, constantly enriching service content, innovating service methods, and improving service quality. From textbook research and return visits, trial teaching trials, to teacher training, public welfare donations, sincere and lasting service education, brand influence has become increasingly popular in the hearts of the people.
Since 2020, Renjiaosha has won the title of the sixth "National Civilized Unit" and the eleventh "China Charity Award" and other important honors. In recent years, Renjiaoshe has won dozens of awards such as the China Publishing Government Award, the National Book Award, the China Book Award, the National Audio-visual Product Award, the National Electronic Publication Award, the National Periodical Award, and the China Excellent Publication Award; it has successively won the National Top 100 Book Publishing Unit, China's Well-known Trademark, Readers' Favorite Publishing House, The National Advanced Unit of Educational Environment, the Civilized Unit of the Central State Organs, the National Advanced Collective of National Unity and Progress, the May Day Labor Award of the Central State Organs and the Civilized Unit of the Capital, and the Most Influential Enterprise of Copyright in China Hundreds of honors such as Beijing Top 100 Taxpayer Enterprises.
All the past is the prologue. "The outstanding results of the first National Textbook Construction Award will become the starting point of the new long march of the Renjiao Society." At the same time, accelerate digital capacity building, with the goal of promoting the integration and development of traditional publishing and emerging media publishing, synchronously plan the integrated development of paper teaching materials and digital teaching materials, supporting teachers' teaching books, teaching aids, electronic audio-visual, and digital resources, build a diversified, three-dimensional, and high-quality textbook supporting resource product system, build special teaching resources in ethnic minority areas, and strengthen all-media topic selection planning and whole-process management. In the future, the Renjiao Society should further give play to the leading role of the national team, professional team and main force in the construction of teaching materials, strive to build a national base for primary and secondary school students across the country to provide high-quality spiritual food, and continue to move towards the goal of outstanding enterprises, creating impressive performance worthy of the new era.
