The thirty-six volumes of the Book of Chen, including six volumes of the Imperial Chronicle and thirty volumes of liechuan, are the histories of the Tang Dynasty written by Yao Silian of the Tang Dynasty, which record the history of the Chen Dynasty in the Southern Dynasty from the founding of the country to the fall of the 33 years, and are the only complete history of the Chen Dynasty.

The Dian school edition is based on the Hundred Editions photocopied by the Commercial Press, and references are made to the Editions of the Southern Supervision, the Northern Supervisory, the Jiguge, the Wuyingdian, and the Jinling Bookstore, as well as the "Southern History," the "Tongdian," the "Yuangui of the Book," the "Taiping Imperial Dictionary," the "Zizhi Tongjian," and the "Tongjian Examination of Differences"; the results of the proofreading of the predecessors are mainly used in Zhang Yuanji and Zhang Senkai's two kinds of "Chen Shu Proofreading Records" manuscripts and Qian Daxin's "Twenty-two Historical Examinations" and other books.

The Zhonghua Book Company's revision of the Book of Chen follows the general rules and working procedures for the revision of the Twenty-Four Histories of the Dian schoolbook and the Qing History Manuscript, and on the basis of the original proofreading, corrects the errors and omissions in it, unifies the system, and makes up for the deficiencies. Under the premise of fully respecting the results of the school-based survey at the origin, all the collation surveys of the origin school-based were cleaned up and reviewed.

The Book of Chen pointed out that there were originally 534 articles in the school survey, and the revised version increased to 960 articles. Among them, 542 new proofreading records were added to the revised version, about 110 original proofreading survey records were deleted, about 160 original collation survey records were rewritten, 185 articles were modified and supplemented, and 73 original collation survey records were used.

It is the hard work of the members of the revision team for more than ten years, the correction of doubts and errors by external audit experts, and the concerted efforts of many links such as typesetting, editing, and proofreading that the revised version of "Chen Shu" can be published smoothly.
