TC Energy and Nikola have partnered to help develop North America into a leading hydrogen region, and the two companies will develop some large-scale hydrogen production facilities in the United States.
According to today (October 7), the two organizations will collaborate to identify and develop projects to establish the infrastructure needed to deliver low-cost and low-carbon hydrogen on a large scale.
This is not limited to the United States, Canada will also benefit from the agreement.
These hydrogen fuel hubs are expected to help accelerate the adoption of heavy-duty, zero-emission fuel cell vehicles, as well as the application of hydrogen fuel vehicles in numerous industrial sectors and application areas.
A key goal of the collaboration is to establish centers that can produce 150 tons of hydrogen per day to help unlock the hydrogen potential of states.
To this end, infrastructure will be built to allow the transmission of natural gas through pipelines.
Pablo Koziner. President of Nikola Energy and Business said, "We are excited to enter into a strategic partnership with a North American energy leader focused on providing low-carbon and hydrogen-based energy solutions.
"The partnership with TC Energy aims to support customers in producing hydrogen in the quantity and cost required to adopt and use fuel cell vehicles. TC Energy also offers pipeline distribution capabilities, which are critical to cost-effective hydrogen transportation in the future.
"Today marks an important step in line with Nikolai's established energy strategy to provide hydrogen fuel solutions for future Nikolai FCEV customers and public network fuel stations."
Corey Hessen, senior vice president and president of power and storage at TC Energy, said: "By leveraging our natural gas and electricity operational footprint, we see this new partnership as an important first step in facilitating access to affordable, low-carbon hydrogen production in the transport and industrial sectors.
"TC Energy is focused on our own decarbonisation efforts and has become the preferred supplier of carbon-free energy to the North American industrial, natural gas and oil industries. As a partner and customer, Nikola is a good fit for this approach. ”
