The average body length at birth is 45 cm, and the baby stingray is not "small" at all.
It is reported that in the natural environment of the ocean, the Mysch stingray generally gives birth to about 6 to 8 children at a time, which is more difficult to give birth in the artificial feeding environment, and the survival rate is also very low. At present, the three newborn stingray babies are still too young and need to be carefully cared for by the breeder, temporarily staying in the conservation area of the Aquarium Department, and after the signs of the baby rays are stable, they will be put into the ocean pool and live with their mothers and other fish. The three newborn stingrays are currently about 45 cm long, and their mother is a 2-meter-long Myer's stripe-tailed stingray in Ocean Park, and the most special place for the baby stingrays is the arrangement of the sand holes, mouths and gill fissures in their abdomen, which are very similar to human smiling faces and are full of cuteness.
The relevant person in charge of Hanhai Ocean Park said that stingrays belong to cartilaginous fish, the body surface is not covered with fish scales, only a layer of mucous membrane, therefore, it is easy to be sucked by parasites and injured and bleeding, in order to take care of these 3 stingray babies, the breeder will let them take a freshwater bath once a week, the purpose is to remove the parasites on the body surface. At present, the newborn stingrays are fed once every two days, mainly feeding them fish meat and stingray favorite crabs and clams and other hard shell foods, hoping that careful care can make these 3 small stingrays grow healthily.
