The theme song of the TV drama "Showa Motoru Rakugo Heart" (every Friday night at 10:00 p.m.), which will be launched on the NHK General Channel on October 12, decided to use the popular group Yuzu's latest song "Illusion".
The drama is based on the manga of the same name (Kodansha) in which Haruko Unda rose to the rakugo trend among young people. Set against the backdrop of the Rakugo community of the Showa period, it tells the interesting daily life and work of Rakugo scholars. The Rakugo master Yakumo is played by Shosei Okada, Yakumo's apprentice and former rogue who entered the right path after being released from prison is played by Ryu Hoshiryo, in addition, Ryuko Seikai (as Kosatsu), Daimasa (as Miyoyoshi), Yamada Yusaburo (as Sukeroku) and so on will also participate in the show.
■Yuhito Kitagawa (Yuzu) Sensen
When I received the story about the theme song of the TV series, I first read the original book. Although I started watching it in the middle of the night, I was immediately attracted by the worldview of the story, and when I finished reading it all, I found that it was already morning. All the characters who appear in the story, their "life and death", "love and hate", "beautiful and cruel" are conceived and developed in the theme of the story called "Rakugo", but also violently collided with the conflict of the story, and I was also immersed in it. Each of the characters in it has its own unique personality, so each actor is also very happy when playing his role.
During the creation of "Illusion", the original idea was to abandon the popularity and positivity that Yuzu has shown so far in the theme song, so as to show a new self. I wanted to create a song that could express the beauty hidden in the dark colors of Showa Motoroku Rakugo Heart.
In the later stages of creative exploration, the theme of "dream" gradually emerged, which is in line with the theme of the story, and is a song that Yuzu has never seen before to show sad dreams. At the same time, Yuzu, as the core of the song, also explores more possibilities than ever before. The encounter with this story opened up new worlds for our train of thought, thank you very much.
