Music is a subjective art, and even if some singers are significantly more famous, honored and of a standard, we prefer some more niche musicians.
Therefore, don't look at the rock rookies who debuted in 2001, there is now unlimited admiration, and there are also fruity VCs that won countless awards that year, but I personally prefer Zhang Qianqian and the Doctor OfFirst Band, which launched its debut album this year.

Zhang Qianqian was originally a well-known advertising model in Guangzhou, but her love of music from childhood made her give up her modeling career and come to Beijing to join the most lively rock and roll frenzy of the last century.
In August 2001, Zhang Qianqian released his debut album "Out of the Soul".
It's not an album worth blowing up. The album lacks a continuing musical concept, and it's hard to tell if it's a folk, rock, or electronic album. The theme of the song is even more divisive, allowing the singer's image to wander between "sensitive and fragile girls" and "crazy superwomen". Many people are a little unaccustomed to hearing it at first.
But who wants this album to have the classic song "Another Emotion"?
Just by virtue of the sentence "We have retained our imagination in our respective lives/ mutual appreciation has been buried in time and space", the "Out of the Soul" album is worth revisiting again and again.
It was also an album that was republished. Six years after the album's release, Pocket Music released a re-edition of the album on February 10, 2007. It's just that compared to the 2001 first edition, the re-edition has lost four songs.

Three months after Zhang Qianqian released their debut album, doctors also released their debut album "Heavy Makeup on the Night" in November after the band became a military.
In terms of personnel composition, the Doctors Band can be seen as a variant of the NO Band. For example, Tiger Zi, guitarist of no band, is the lead singer and lead guitar of Doctor Sick Band, while Li Jian and Zhang Wei, who are bass and drummers in Doctor Sick Band, are also bass and drummers of NO Band.
However, the music of the doctors is different from that of the NO band, whose musical compositions use electronic synthesizers, and the songs contain a lot of irregular and high-decibel noise, creating a psychedelic cold and dark morbid beauty.
As the band's first and only album, "Heavy Makeup on the Night" was the first rock album in China at that time to combine rock, electronic and pop.
Many people may not really understand the nine pieces on the album, but they are easily attracted by the obscure beauty of these music. And once you hear this album when you are depressed, works like "I Scared You" will make you feel like you are empowered, and finally understand all the absurdities and weirdness, but they are some emotional expressions that can't help but be.

Talking about this, looking back at the rock band that launched their debut album in 2001, it was unexpected to find that the rock musicians who appeared collectively this year, except for fruity VCs, are mostly biased towards underground music, and it is difficult to get the recognition of mainstream culture.
For Chinese rock, the beginning of the century was definitely not the best era. In those years, even some mainstream rock was criticized, not to mention death metal and weird electric sounds.
Fortunately, the times are always moving forward, and even now it is not the heyday of rock and roll, at least the two seasons of "Summer of the Band".
I am looking forward to the third season of "Summer of the Band" more and more, and I hope that this season will have a real underground rock band out of the circle!
