Affected by heavy rain, Chiang Rai Province in northern Thailand suffered severe flooding and many places were affected. During September 10-11, the term "Chiang Rai flood" appeared on the hot search list of Thailand's Twitter.
On the morning of September 11, Thailand Prime Minister Petuntan arrived at the Chinawatra No. 3 building to attend official business, during which Prime Minister Petuntan was interviewed and asked by reporters how to deal with the Chiang Rai flood relief work, revealing that at present, she cannot do any instructions and deployments in her capacity as prime minister, because she needs to formally read out the policy at the Thailand parliament in accordance with the legal procedures for the prime minister's inauguration before she can perform her duties.
Despite this, she has immediately followed up with Deputy Prime Minister Phutan about the flood situation in Chiang Rai Province, especially in Mae Sai District, and has set up shelters for residents in two severely affected areas in Mae Sai District, and built kitchens to distribute meals to 500-600 people, but the above relief work has not been done enough, because 9,000 households in Mae Sai have been affected by the floods.
Prime Minister Petuntan also said that when the water level drops, the relevant disaster prevention and relief department staff will expedite the rescue work, and wherever they can go, they will go to the disaster. As for sending military personnel to the disaster relief, Petuntan added that the matter is under the responsibility of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Mr. Putang, and that journalists can interview Putang if they have any questions.
