Shanghai is mainly cloudy, and thundershowers may still occur in some areas from the afternoon to the first half of the night. The minimum temperature is 30 °C, and the maximum temperature is 38~39 °C. The southeast wind is 3~4, and the wind strength increases to 4~5 at night. Please continue to take precautions against heatstroke and cool down.
Weather trends
Affected by the strong subtropical high pressure, the city will still have continuous high temperature weather next week, and the extreme maximum temperature in the city at the beginning of next week can still reach about 39 °C, and the maximum temperature will drop to 35~37 °C in the middle and late part of the week.
It is expected that the subtropical high will weaken from the 12th, and this round of continuous high temperature weather is expected to end, and the maximum temperature will drop to about 33 °C. Due to the continuous high temperature and the increase of unstable energy in the atmosphere, localized thundershowers are prone to occur in the afternoon, which may be accompanied by strong convective weather such as short-term heavy precipitation and thunderstorms and strong winds.
As of August 3, the number of days with high temperature above 35 °C in the city this year has reached 24 days, including 14 days of hot days above 37 °C and 2 days of very hot days above 40 °C.
The third round of high temperature weather that began on July 28 was characterized by strong intensity, long duration, obvious heat island effect, and high night temperature. From August 1st to 2nd, the national standard station and Xujiahui station in the urban area experienced a very hot weather of 40.0°C for two consecutive days. The highest temperature at Minhang Station on August 2 was 40.9 °C, and the highest temperature at Qingpu Station on August 3 was 40.9 °C, both of which exceeded the historical extremes of the two stations since their establishment in 1961. Since the night of July 31, the minimum temperature in the city has been above 30°C, and the body feels uncomfortable. The overall distribution of high temperature is high in the west, low in the coastal areas along the river in the east, and strong in the central urban area.
