As everyone knows, the Samsung Galaxy S10 series five years ago consisted of 4 models, and then its iteration model, the Galaxy S20 series, was changed to a 3-model lineup, divided into S20 Standard, S20+, and S20 Ultra, and this model lineup has continued to this day.
However, technology media Android Headline recently released a blog post saying that based on information from GSMA IMEI database mining, the Galaxy S25 series, which will be unveiled early next year, may be revised, or will return to the previous dual-model strategy.

However, the Galaxy S25+, the big cup model, has not appeared, so the media speculated that Samsung will most likely not launch the Plus model again, and the next generation will only keep the standard version and Ultra. At present, it is generally believed that if Plus is really canceled, it is likely to be caused by its poor sales.
It's also true that the Plus has always been the worst performer in the Galaxy S series. The reason is that the product is too low, and Samsung has given all the core upgrades to Ultra, which is a catch. However, the starting price is as high as 6999, which is not competitive with domestic phones at the same price.
It's a bit of a shame to think about it, though, after all, this year's Galaxy S24+ is just getting a little better, giving 12GB of RAM and an LTPO adaptive refresh rate. This can be regarded as the best generation Plus model after the S20+, which has also made its reputation rise a lot.
In addition to Samsung, Apple's Plus models are not selling well either, and they may also be canceled. According to analyst Jeff Pu, Apple will launch a new iPhone 17 Slim model next year to replace the Plus in the current model lineup.
Compared to Plus, the screen size of the new Slim will be a little smaller, and it is expected to change from 6.7 inches to 6.6 inches. It will also feature the same ultra-thin body design as the new iPad Pro, which is expected to be much thinner than the current iPhone design.
For now, both Samsung and Apple may want to cancel the Plus model. The difference is that the Samsung Galaxy S25 series may be cutting the Plus outright, leaving only the standard version and Ultra.
The iPhone 17 series, on the other hand, continues the 4-model lineup, but may replace the Plus with the new Slim and use "ultra-thin" as a new selling point.
