Recently, a large number of items are being removed from the shelves, including food and clothing, as Health Canada and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) recently issued a series of recall notices affecting supermarkets including Costco and Dollarama, for which Costco apologized to consumers and asked consumers who bought products such as granola bars not to eat them, return them immediately, and receive a full refund.

Due to possible exposure to Salmonella, Quaker Canada is voluntarily recalling several varieties of granola bars and Harvest Crunch cereals, including some items purchased from Costco.

The company said on its recall page that salmonella is a bacterium that can cause diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps. Most people recover without treatment. In some cases, diarrhea can be so severe that patients need to be hospitalized. Older adults, infants, and people with compromised immune systems are more likely to develop serious illness.

Costco said that as of Jan. 12, there have been no reports of illness associated with the consumption of these products.

Costco says please do not consume, offer, use, sell or distribute the recalled products. If you purchased one of the recalled products listed above with a best before date between January 11, 2024 and July 9, 2024, please return it to Costco for a full refund.

Costco says the above products are eligible for full refunds with or without receipts or leftovers that have not been eaten.
