Auto accident identification has always been a troublesome matter, and a famous case is the Toyota "acceleratorgate" incident in 2009.

On the bright side, in recent years, the construction of the accident responsibility management system for new energy vehicles in mainland China is accelerating.
According to the newly revised Technical Conditions for Motor Vehicle Operation Safety issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, from January 1, 2022, newly produced passenger cars shall be equipped with an event data recording system (EDR) that complies with the provisions of GB39732 or an on-board video driving recording system that complies with the provisions of GB/T 38892.
In addition, in October 2022, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) issued the Regulations on the Administration of Road Motor Vehicle Production Access Permits (Draft for Comments), which clarifies that personal information and important data collected and generated by ICV manufacturers in the process of product sales and use shall be stored within China in accordance with the law. Where it is truly necessary to provide it overseas due to business needs, it shall pass a security assessment organized by the State Internet Information Department in conjunction with relevant departments such as for industry and information technology, and report to the relevant departments.
