The PLA warships fought against foreign ships for two days and two nights to defend sovereignty in the South China Sea

With the continuous advancement of the U.S. Indo-Pacific strategy, the intensity of the game between China and the United States in the Asia-Pacific region has also begun to escalate. In order to ensure that it has the last laugh in the process of the Sino-US game, the United States has also given up the idea of single-handedly challenging China, and has instead joined other countries in the Asia-Pacific region to form a special encirclement ring against China, trying to contain China's rise and development through this despicable trick. Since it has chosen to win over Asia-Pacific countries to attack China, the United States has also made up its mind to show its influence and presence in the Asia-Pacific region so that other countries can strengthen their conviction of standing with the United States. It is against this background that the United States has launched a new round of provocative actions against China in the Asia-Pacific region. I believe everyone will remember that some time ago, the United States, together with the Philippines, Japan, Canada, the United Kingdom, France and Australia, launched a seven-nation joint military exercise in the South China Sea, and the target of this exercise was naturally China, aiming to "curb China's expanding influence in the South China Sea."

In fact, in addition to military exercises in the South China Sea region with South China Sea countries and core allies, the United States has taken other provocative actions. For example, in late October, the USS Ronald Reagan nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, escorted by two Ticonderoga-class missile cruisers, passed through the Bass Strait into the South China Sea, and finally docked at a military port in Manila, the capital of the Philippines. However, compared with the large-scale joint military exercises in the South China Sea and the deployment of the US nuclear-powered aircraft carrier battle group, in fact, the so-called "freedom of navigation" launched by the US missile destroyer "Dewey" in the South China Sea in early November is even more provocative to China. This is because during the voyage in the South China Sea, the ship not only passed through Nankey Island, which was occupied by the Philippines, and Bolan Reef, which was occupied by Vietnam, but also trespassed 10 nautical miles from Taiping Island without authorization.

Some media sources have pointed out that the erroneous act of the US missile destroyer USS Dewey trespassing into the waters adjacent to Taiping Island is actually a malicious challenge to China's national sovereignty and maritime rights and interests, which has not only aggravated regional tension but also directly affected the normal development of Sino-US relations. Soon after the US guided missile destroyer intruded into the waters adjacent to Taiping Island, the PLA destroyer also immediately appeared in the surrounding waters and launched a blocking operation. And this is not the first time that the US military has taken the initiative to provoke China in the South China Sea, according to domestic media sources, when I recently interviewed Zhang Meiyu, the captain of the Hainan ship, I learned such a story that attracted attention. Captain Zhang Meiyu once led a missile frigate to carry out the task of tracking and monitoring foreign warships in the South China Sea, and the typhoon weather in the South China Sea seriously affected the normal work of the officers and men on the frigate, but the PLA frigate, which was fully loaded and displaced, carried the foreign ships for two days and two nights in the harsh sea conditions, and finally completed the tracking and monitoring mission, successfully defending China's national sovereignty and maritime rights and interests.

According to Captain Zhang Meiyu, at that time they had only one belief in their hearts, that is, the non-withdrawal of foreign ships and the non-withdrawal of our ships was a matter of national sovereignty, and the PLA must resolutely fight to the end. After all, only the United States, the "world's policeman," likes to send surface warships to carry out provocative patrols in the world's oceans, and it is also called "freedom and navigation." It's okay to want "free navigation", but don't come to China's doorstep to wander around, this kind of wrong behavior is not used to the PLA. Since the People's Liberation Army (PLA) was able to dispatch thousands of tons of missile frigates to confront uninvited US warships in the South China Sea for two days, now the PLA can also dispatch tens of thousands of tons of aircraft carriers to deter and warn. Nowadays, the PLA aircraft carrier battle group has entered the West Pacific area to carry out long-distance training missions more and more frequently, which in a sense also shows that the PLA Navy is slowly beginning to move towards the deep blue, and will have more strength and confidence to defend national sovereignty and its own legitimate rights and interests in the future. As the old saying goes, as long as the US military dares to come to the door to provoke, then the PLA will inevitably take countermeasures, and if there are some unexpected serious consequences, then the United States will inevitably pay a heavy price for it.
