The pilot project of building a friendly community for the elderly with cognitive impairment in Gucun Town, Baoshan District, weaves a community support network with love, and holds every pair of hands in need.
Be the first to land, never say it's too early
Recently, the summary report of the pilot project of the construction of a friendly community for the elderly with cognitive impairment in Gucun Town and the unveiling ceremony of the Friendly Community Support Center for the Elderly in Gucun Town were successfully held in the Xinjiayuan Branch of the Comprehensive Service Center for the Elderly in Gucun Town.
With the strong support of the municipal and district civil affairs departments, the Gucun Town Elderly Cognitive Impairment Friendly Community Support Center has become the first officially landed support center in Baoshan District. In order to build a friendly community network support system for elderly cognitive impairment in Gucun Town and create a friendly atmosphere of social inclusion, certificates were issued to the representatives of the first batch of 12 elderly dementia friendly units in Gucun Township.
As the fourth batch of pilot units for the construction of elderly cognitive impairment-friendly communities in Shanghai, Gucun Town took the lead in launching the project in Baoshan District and achieved phased results, and has successfully carried out 15 brain health science popularization activities and 14 early risk screening special activities, benefiting more than 2,000 elderly people and well received by residents. On the same day, Professor Zhou Houguang, Director of the Department of Geriatrics of Huashan Hospital, was specially invited to Professor Zhou, who has rich clinical experience in the diagnosis and treatment of cognitive dysfunction, introduced the latest situation of current drug research and development and treatment related to dementia, and emphasized the importance of actively promoting joint prevention and treatment in the hospital community. Dr. Zhou Chunhui of Shanghai Institute of Sport shared his expertise from the perspective of exercise intervention in brain health, and led residents to experience the Tai Chi Ring Project on site.
Action is imminent, never too late
The Gucun Town Elderly Cognitive Impairment Friendly Community Support Center, with the design concept of "Gu Keeping a Good Time", integrates the characteristic elements of Gucun into the scene setting, and builds a "1 platform + 5 major functions" service system, that is, the support center is the basic platform, upgrading the five functions of science popularization, risk assessment, early intervention, family support and resource linkage, providing various professional services such as science popularization, screening, intervention, counseling, psychological comfort, medical care referral, etc., and carefully creating a pure land of time that allows residents to feel at ease, feel comfortable and calm.
1 Space upgrade, function overlay
Relying on the rich elderly care service resource platform of the community, the support center superimposes functions such as science popularization, early risk screening, and volunteer special training into the community comprehensive service center for the elderly, expanding the service space and enhancing the influence of the project.
2 Intimate care, multiple interventions
The support center is equipped with aromatic green plant corners, intelligent all-in-one machines, puzzle game tables, memory photo walls, etc., to provide a warm and relaxed consultation service environment for dementia patients and their families, and provide early intervention services using multiple non-drug therapies such as aromatherapy, gardening, sports, games, and memories.
In the next step, Gucunzhen will focus on early intervention of risk groups, docking of medical care resources, and construction of community support networks to solidly promote the pilot work of building a friendly community for elderly cognitive impairment, further create a social inclusion and friendly environment of "cognitive hindrance, community love", help care for the elderly and families with cognitive impairment, and act immediately, it is not too late.
