Tea, an iconic symbol of ancient Eastern culture, has been revitalized under the influence of concepts such as science and technology, health and environmental protection.
There are more than 1.6 million tea-related enterprises in mainland China
The tea industry chain mainly includes upstream planting, midstream processing, and downstream consumption, while tea can be further processed into milk tea, tea food, tea health products, etc. in addition to direct drinking. In recent years, the mainland has paid more attention to tea culture, and many tea-related tea exhibitions, tea-themed hotels, tea-themed restaurants, etc. have also been listed.
In the midstream processing link: Fujian, Guangdong and Yunnan, the number of related enterprises in the three places ranks first. Around the golden tea belt at 30 degrees north latitude, more than 1,000 counties and cities in more than 20 provinces, from Hainan Island to Bohai Bay, from Yunguichuan to Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui, there are tea processing and sales enterprises everywhere.
According to Tianyan inspection data, there are more than 1.6 million tea-related enterprises, of which more than 135,000 were newly registered from January to August 2023, an increase of 14.4% compared with the same period in 2022;
From the perspective of geographical distribution, Fujian, Guangdong and Yunnan rank first in the number of related enterprises, with more than 252,000, more than 232,000 and more than 162,000 respectively.
From the perspective of establishment time, 49.4% of related enterprises were established within 1-5 years, and 11.5% of related enterprises were established for more than 10 years;
What tea sells well? The data shows that more than half of green tea sales are sold and account for an absolute advantage.
In 2022, China's green tea domestic sales volume will be 1.311 million tons, accounting for 54.68% of the total sales; black tea 381,300 tons, accounting for 15.90% of the total sales; 364,400 tons of black tea, accounting for 15.20% of the total sales; oolong tea 248,400 tons, accounting for 10.36% of the total sales; 81,300 tons of white tea, accounting for 3.39% of the total sales; Yellow tea 11,200 tons, accounting for 0.47% of the total sales.
From the perspective of tea export categories, green tea is still the dominant category of mainland tea exports, with export volume accounting for a large proportion, 83.65% and 66.93% respectively. In terms of export volume, except for Pu'er tea, which continued to decline (down 11.94%), the export volume of other tea categories increased to varying degrees; Among them, the highest increase was black tea, reaching 12.33%.
Green tea and black tea patents have a high degree of "attention", and tea industry patents involve many fields
At present, tea-related patents are relatively extensive, involving the production, preservation and processing of tea. For example, it can include tea extraction methods, tea composition analysis, tea planting technology, tea preservation technology and other fields. In addition, there are design patents for teapots, tea saucers, tea cups and other tea utensils. The application and licensing of these patents can promote the innovation and development of the tea industry.
The distribution of tea patent applications reflects the popularity and maturity of different types of tea. Green tea and red are still the types that receive more "attention".
From the perspective of the types of tea set patent applications, design occupies the main position, and more than 70% of patent applications are related to it; Utility model and invention patents accounted for 18.9% and 4.8% of patent applications respectively.
The distribution of tea packaging and tea utensil-related patent applications is similar, and design is still in the forefront, accounting for more than 80%; Utility model and invention patents accounted for 10.6% and 2.4% of patent applications respectively.
In Fujian, Beijing and Zhejiang, tea industry financing is in the forefront
The emergence of many new tea beverage companies has rejuvenated the ancient tea industry to a certain extent, attracting young consumers to enter the market and becoming a battleground for soldiers. From new milk tea to sugar-free tea drinks, traditional tea companies have seen the strong consumption ability and different consumption concepts of young consumer groups, and have also strengthened their determination to innovate.
From the perspective of the geographical distribution of tea financing events, Fujian, Beijing and Zhejiang ranked in the forefront of financing events, with 5, 5 and 4 respectively. In addition to the above three regions, Anhui and Hunan ranked second with three financings. From the perspective of the region of financing events, it is basically positively correlated with the main tea producing areas in the mainland.
From the perspective of the industry breakdown of tea financing events, food and beverage, plantation and agricultural e-commerce related industries ranked first, with 12, 4 and 3 respectively.
From the perspective of the distribution of financing events, early stage investment is the mainstay, with seed round, angel round and A round in the forefront, with 3, 9 and 8 rounds respectively.
From the perspective of investment institutions, Meihua Venture Capital, Tsingshan Capital, Shenzhen Venture Capital and Shunwei Capital all appear in the list of shareholders of tea-related invested enterprises.
