In the face of the surging mobile Internet, what profound changes have taken place in the international communication ecology? In the era of new media, how should international communication meet challenges, embrace opportunities and create the future?

On June 8, at the sub-forum on international communication innovation in the new media era, guided by the International Liaison Bureau of the Central Propaganda Department, hosted by the Xinhua News Agency Research Institute and undertaken by the Propaganda Department of the Shenzhen Municipal Party Committee, relevant think tanks, scholars and media representatives focused on relevant topics and conducted exchanges and discussions.

On June 7, General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out in his congratulatory letter to the First Summit Forum on the Construction of a Cultural Power that since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, we have placed cultural construction in a prominent position in governing the country, continuously deepened our understanding of the laws of cultural construction, promoted cultural inheritance and development, and taken solid steps in the construction of a socialist cultural power.

On the journey of building a culturally powerful country, international communication work undertakes the important responsibility of building Chinese discourse and Chinese narrative system, and plays an important role in highlighting the inclusiveness and openness of Chinese civilization and promoting exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations of all countries.

Fu Hua, director of Xinhua News Agency, said that China is getting closer to the center of the world stage, and the international community is highly concerned about China's road and plan, and hopes to listen to China's views and voices. We should make good use of the power of informatization and the changes of the mobile Internet, innovate the discourse system, enrich product supply, expand landing channels, strengthen exchanges and exchanges, and better enhance the influence of international communication, the appeal of Chinese culture, the affinity of China's image, the persuasiveness of Chinese discourse, and the guidance of international public opinion.

"The new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation represented by artificial intelligence is profoundly reshaping the international public opinion pattern." Chen Xian, member of the editorial board of People's Daily and editor-in-chief of the overseas edition editorial department, believes that in the new media era, innovative international communication should make full use of technological innovation achievements, continuously improve the intelligence level of the media's own platform, and effectively improve the efficiency of international communication.

"To tell Chinese stories well and convey Chinese voices and propositions in international communication, the key is to find the concerns and empathies of overseas audiences and tell stories with their familiar discourse system." Fan Yun, member of the editorial board of the Central Radio and Television Station and director of CGTN, said that it is necessary to innovate the expression and narrative of discourse, and strive to achieve empathy and resonance with the world.

Yu Xinguo, deputy secretary of the Shenzhen Municipal Party Committee, said that Shenzhen will accelerate the construction of external publicity channels and media integration, innovate and promote international communication capacity building, comprehensively tell the story of Shenzhen in a three-dimensional and three-dimensional manner, and show a colorful and vivid and three-dimensional image of China to enhance the communication power and influence of Chinese civilization.

This sub-forum set up four salon dialogues of "Precise Communication and Discourse Construction", "Deep Integration and Technology Empowerment", "Innovation Iteration and Track Transformation", and "Think Tank Voice and Aggregation". More than 20 participants had in-depth exchanges and collided with sparks of ideas.

Precise communication and discourse construction are key issues in international communication.

"The spirit of struggle in international communication is a kind of self-confidence from the heart." According to Zhang Weiwei, dean of the Institute of China Studies at Fudan University, China should form its own indicator system. In the traditional Western quantitative indicators, any slight change will lead to a change in the entire result, and China has many good qualitative positioning methods from the tradition, paying attention to the simplicity of the road.

Ding Shizhao, secretary of the leading party group and president of Shenzhen Press Group, believes that international communication in the era of new media should carry out high-quality communication, that is, value dissemination and effective communication, and spread the common values of all mankind, such as peaceful development, fairness and justice, democracy and freedom, "justifiably", which is the communication with the least resistance and the fastest effect.

With the rapid development of artificial intelligence, the future trend of deep media integration, and how new technologies and applications can help international communication innovation, have become the concerns of participants.

Chen Yuehong, Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences of Southern University of Science and Technology, said that in the process of international communication and exchange, to achieve effective communication, it is necessary to reduce cultural misreading and break down information barriers. The effective use of new media and vertical applications to build new communication formats will help us further penetrate cultural barriers and contribute to the promotion of Chinese culture and China-style modernization in the future.

"Media integration cannot only talk about technology, nor can it be limited to digital technology, but must be for cultural inheritance, cultural prosperity and cultural power." Xiong Chengyu, dean of the School of Cultural Industry Management of Communication University of China, said that while shaping China's image and telling Chinese stories well, we should also take mutual learning between civilizations as the direction of efforts.

Speaking of the sub-forum's attention to the construction of a cultural power and international communication innovation, He Daokuan, professor and senior translator of Shenzhen University, said that he was very pleased and moved. In recent years, He Daokuan, who is in his eighties, is very concerned about the profound impact and promotion of new technologies such as artificial intelligence on information dissemination and traditional culture. "From the successful application of Liangzhu to the major achievements of Sanxingdui archaeology, to the shining of cultural heritage such as Dunhuang, each of us should pay special attention to the long-standing Chinese civilization and use digital technology to spread Chinese civilization more far-reaching." A word that shows firm cultural confidence.

With the rapid development of technology and the accelerated transformation of media, at present, the track of international communication has changed, and reporting methods and platforms have become more and more diversified.

"International communication faces different countries, regions and different audiences, and different language culture and thinking habits, which requires that the content and channels of international communication should be highly adaptable, especially to cultivate a language system and image expression suitable for international communication, so that overseas audiences can read Chinese stories." We are embarking on the establishment of a Chinese-style discourse system that is efficient and coordinated among media, think tanks, governments, institutions, and non-governmental organizations. Li Dongmei, director of the Shenzhen News Center of Hong Kong Da Kung Wenhui Media Group, said.

"We also want to speak out in the mainstream Western media, which is also a good way to get to know each other." Xu Zeyu, a reporter from Xinhua News Agency, believes that in international communication, we should not only establish our own position in the new public opinion space, but also further directly reach the position of the other party, and strive for more power to know China and Youhua by presenting our own words and narratives.

Building a new type of think tank with Chinese characteristics is an important carrier of national soft power and an important part of building a strategic communication system with distinctive Chinese characteristics.

"There are thousands of international communications, and the basic one is still communication between China and foreign countries." Wang Lei, director of the International Cooperation Bureau of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, said that in order for international communication to effectively act on the audience, it is necessary to strengthen the research on the law of international communication, achieve "understanding the people's feelings and grounding gas" in the transnational context, strive to create new concepts, new categories and new expressions that integrate China and foreign countries, and build an international communication discourse narrative system that is easy to understand and accept by the international community.

"If China wants to gain a voice in the field of international discourse, it first needs to have its own original discourse." Zhang Yonghe, executive dean of the Human Rights Research Institute of Southwest University of Political Science and Law, said that in international communication, think tanks can play an important role in helping to enhance the international persuasion of Chinese discourse by actively setting topics, enriching the forms of discourse achievements, and creating international consensus discourse brands.
