Rarely, South Korea becoming a non-permanent member, what impact does it have on China?

A round of voting was held at UN Headquarters in New York on June 6, with South Korea, Sierra Leone, Algeria, Slovenia and Guyana serving as non-permanent members for a two-year term beginning in January 2024.

South Korea is the only elected country in the Asia-Pacific region, an important ally of the United States, and has close trade with China, so South Korea's election is a big event that may have some negative impact on China.

After all, the government of Yoon Seok-yue in South Korea pursues a "pro-American and far-middle" policy, and it follows the United States economically, militarily, and strategically. This is reflected in the strengthening of the military alliance between South Korea and the United States and the enhancement of military capabilities to deal with North Korea. At the same time, South Korean President Yoon Seok-yue also made Taiwan-related remarks, not allowing China to change the status quo in the Taiwan Strait by force. Such remarks have seriously hurt Sino-South Korean relations and made the Asia-Pacific situation tense.

Under the guidance of this policy, South Korea will become a non-permanent member, and it is likely that it will also side with the United States and launch a series of countermeasures against China, so that China's proposals cannot be blocked in the Security Council.

In this regard, China must be vigilant and put pressure on South Korea, while appropriately increasing its support for the countries on the peninsula, and absolutely cannot let the Security Council become the words of the United States.

Of course, there is no need to worry too much, this is just South Korea's re-election as a non-permanent member of the Security Council after 11 years, and it is also the third time that South Korea has become a non-permanent member, and the first few times have failed to make waves, let alone now.
